Before buying SCPM30 I went to Tottenham Court Road, the electronics Mecca in London, and tried out all the other brands in the same bracket and price range and this was the one I came away with. Why? The sound is so much clearer and sharper than anything else similar. Other models sounded wooley or tinny whereas the Panasonic was simply spot on. It also features excellent 3D sound which adds another dimension to your music and also has a feature that allows you to enhance vocals on loud tracks where they can be slightly drowned out. The bass and treble on the machine are also excellent and allow you to fine tune them unlike most other systems which are indexed. One of the best things about this system is that it can play all three major formats (MC, MD, CD). You can record from CD to MC and MD, MD to MC and vice versa. It also has an optical jack to allow you to record from or to a portable MD player. It also has a radio tuner with FM and MW frequencies. The controls on the system and remote are easy to use but because there are so many of them its easy to get confused when you first start using it. Unlike many other systems the Panasonic makes use of a lot of dials which may not be popular with some users but it gives you a feeling of having more control of the systems features. Almost all the main units functions are found on the remote so you can do most things from the comfort of your armchair. The machine also looks good and is finished in brushed silver and light wood and the control dials are automatically recessed when the machine is switched off. Not a particularly useful feature but it does make it look good when the system is not being used. Overall the Panasonic is a great machine for anyone who places an emphasis on sound and its customizability and also wants all three formats in a single system.
This is an excellent hifi , full of features which are as good as any other hifi system . The motorised front panel adds an extra dimension to the system and improves its looks . When my friends see it move they are very impressed and this could be a reason alone for buying this system . The sound quality is superb , with the quality of sound for the radio , md and cd being of an equally high standard . The recording onto md's is easy and could be done by anyone . There are however a few problems with the system , there are only 2 radio wavebands , which is not a lot in comparison with other systems . This system looks and sounds superb and I would recomend it to anyone .
