Advantages: inconspicuous, well featured
Disadvantages: complicated
I managed to get the basic NS-8 for £169.00 from Argos, they were obviously having a problem selling it, though it does seem expensive at over £400 for a CD/Tuner, at 169 it's a bargain. The main unit is no bigger than a shoebox and houses a three channel channel power amp, left, right and woofer, a CD deck and a RDS EON tuner, the control unit is tethered by a 2m cord and comprises a blue flouresecent display and a detachable remote (clap your hands and it bleeps back, great for when you loose it down the settee !) The sound quality on both Tuner and CD is excellent, not totally audiophile quality but good enough to listen to the music. The only thing is, once you've added the MD and Cassette, the contols are *VERY* complicated, not at all intutitive. Ypu'll have to try it to see what a mean, but with only 8 buttons to operate all components it can get a bit awkward. This aside, it's neat and classy to the level of being a future collectable. With only the display on top of your cabinet it's discreet to the point of invisble.. Buy it, you'l love it Graham
