Advantages: Looks
Disadvantages: no easy way to scroll through artists. Not wireless. Expensive
Should be better!
I purchased an ex display model giga juke a year ago for £300. I loved the idea of the hard drive function and I thought it looked a very attractive piece of kit.
Despite claims of accepting a wireless dongle, it only works with a certain type of sony dongle which I couldnt find anywhere!!! Uploading cds require the gigajuke to be networked to the internet.
Although boring, I had no probs uploading cds to the unit and it took no longer than uploading to a normal computer. In my experience if found all track info without any problems.
Transfer from a usb stick was easy but I suggest editing artists / songs / folders before you upload as it will be easier on the keyboard.
I like the jukebox function with plays random tracks from your library depending on the mood / year / genre you select. Very handy at parties.
My major gripe is scrolling through the artists. You cannot press a / b or c and it brings up the artists beginning with that letter. who knows why????
I now plug my laptop in the unit and play my playlists from there. Not what the unit was made for but it is more convienant.
Sound is quite good with the exception of the overly loud bass.
This unit looks the part but sadly doesnt live up to its potential.
Cheers
