      flawed design, not safe

I ordered the Chicco Happy Snack and when it arrived straight away I wasn't happy. This highchair was for my second child and I only had a basic highchair for my first child. When I opened the highchair I found that the plasticy seat looked cheap and tacky, I know this makes it easy to wipe clean but I want something I am going to be using every day to look nice aswell as being hygienic. The biggest issue I had with this high chair was that it kept falling back, another persn I spoke to regarding this high chair agreed with this and said that if their child moved in the wrong way in the seat the seat would just fall back and baby would be lay flat on their back. So if you are going to purchase this highchair make sure you strap baby in at all times! I sent this high chair back as I was very unhappy with that issue and didn't feel I could trust the highchair. The highchair was also quite bulky cimpared to others but did have a nice big storage basked underneath which my new high chair doesnt have!

Will make your baby comfy when eating

I bought this highchair for my son when he was about 6 months, when he could sit unaided. One thing I noticed straight away was the plastic bar that is in middle of the seat and prevents your baby slipping down when sitting. I found that excellent feature. There is 5 point harness as well to assure the safety of your baby. The chair is very easy to put up and fold down again. I have to fold it every time he finnishes eating, because I have a small flat and the highchair may appear a bit bulky when using it in a small room. Someone mentioned in another post that the basket underneath collects crumbs and dust which is quite true, though you can just remove it completely. I haven't been really using the basket anyway. Just found my son climbing into it a few times. The highchair is light, 6.3 kg and very easy to wipe with dump cloth. You can remove the padded seat covers and wash it as well.
The tray is removable and has 4 positions as your baby grows, and the back rest reclines in 3 positions which is quite handy when your baby rests after his meal.
      The measurements are:
      Seat height: 68cm
      Unfolded: H82 x W58 x D101cm
      Folded: H92 x W58 x D41cm
      Weight: 6.3 kg
      I would buy it again

A fantastic chair, worth every penny

We purchased a Chicco Happysnack high chair for my older daughter nearly 4 years ago. She started using it from when she was about 6 months old and still very occassionally sits in it to play play dough but as she is coming up to 4 years old she no longer uses it at meal times and sits like a big girl with us at the table.

The seat we have has the pink, white and brown coloured seat cover with retro circles on it. We have a 4 month old baby daughter now too and she will be using the seat as soon as she is old enough.

The best thing about this seat is that the tray, seat cover and harness are all removable which makes it very quick and easy to clean. My daughter has not just used the seat for mealtimes but also for messy play like painting and play dough.

The seat cover is waterproof and padded and seems to be nice and comfy... my daughter certainly thought it was and used to always fall asleep in it when she was smaller! The seat also reclines to three different positions so you can adjust it to suit your child as they grow.

After all the use our chair has had it is still in excellent condition and we have not had one problem with it. If I had to be picky the only thing I would say is bad about it is that if you use the removable toy basket underneath the chair it collects crumbs and bits of food and is a little tricky to clean.

We very rarely fold up our chair as it has been in use so much and it slides up to our table nicely but if you do need a chair that you will be putting away alot this one folds up very easily with no faffing about required!

A good high chair if you have the space

This was the high chair I bought for my child after weighing up the pros and cons of all the chairs. I used it from first solids at 5 ½ months through until 21 months when we moved him into a booster seat at our table.
Would I buy it again - yes!
Overall , assembly is quite easy. We bought our chair from Mothercare for around the £50 mark. Some people will be turned off by the colour of the chair (blue) but we had a boy so it was ok.

      Things to consider

Size of chair - It's quite a bulky chair so is probably best if you have got a bit of room to spare. We never bothered folding it up and left it out permanently, but it doesn't fold flat like some - but it can be folded for storage. It's now in our attic. I didn't find it too hard to fold. The height of the chair was good for us as it nestled up to our table quite well. Some chairs move up and down but I don't think that is a feature that is really worth paying extra for.

Features - Features I liked about this chair included the basket underneath. This is where we stored all his bibs, wipes, mats etc. It can collect discarded food. The chair has adjustable reins that you are advised to use but we didn't bother after the first couple of weeks as he sat quite safely in it. The chair reclines which I never used as he had good head control when we started solids. The padded seat is very nice and make child comfy but is a nuisance to clean if baby is a messy eater. Fortunately mine was quite a clean eater so it was never an issue. I just put the hoover over is every now and then. The removable table is good and can move in towards child depending on the size of child tummy!

Others - It's quite a sturdy chair so wouldn't get knocked over easily.

High chairs are subject to personal preference so go and have a good look in Mothercare and see what you fancy but don't get sold on too many fancy features.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Brilliant highchair would recommend to anyone

Brilliant highchair, has 3 recline positions to make it more comfortable for growing babies. Has two positions for harness. However I do not have to strap my little one in yet as he two young to try and climb out and the little stump that goes between their legs stops him from slipping down.

The cover comes off making it really easy to clean. the basket at the bottom is a brilliant bit of added storage, however I do tend to find odd bits of toast in there!

Tray can be moved to accomodate growing babies to, which is good and It is very easily removed for cleaing.

I do not often put highchair down as he is in and out so often but I have found it a little awkward to put up and down and can be a little bulking even when down. Obviously the storage basket can not be in use when down do is a bit of waste of time if you would like to put chair away after every use.

That said I think this is a brilliant highchair and my son is very comfortable in it, he happily plays and eats in there daily. Would highly recommend

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

It's done us OK but I wouldn't buy it again.

I bought this for my son when I started weaning him. It is a fairly basic model but with useful features such as a tray that can be removed for cleaning and a 'between the legs' bar to stop a smaller baby sliding through the hole!

I've unclipped the basket and just have it as a pouch on the back leg for bibs as I found it just collected crumbs otherwise.

I've used it about 3 times a day for the last 8 months, as well as using the tray sometimes I just pull it under our kitchen table and he eats it that. It is definitely showing the wear and tear now. The straps are a bit stained as they're difficult to clean properly and the seat pad has started to rip slightly near the joins. Also the spring on one release handle of the tray has come a bit loose.

I bought the chair on special offer and I think it will last us until our son is ready to sit at the table but it's going to have to be binned then and I'll probably try different when, or if, another baby comes along.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        buy mothercares instead.

when my highchair arrived, my daughter was a little over 5 months old, although the product states from 6 months + she fit in well, and was well supported. assembly was fairly easy, the legs needed to be attatched, and armrests, but i managed these on my own in no time. so this point was a bonus...
        HOWEVER...
on either side of the chair are two red 'locating' clips, that when you pull up the backrest of the seat, are supposed to locate into holes on wither side. i don't know if this is a design flaw, but 9/10 one or both of the clips wouldn't locate 1st time, and often not at all, resulting in the seat having to be wiggled, collapsed, put back up repeatedly. if this was a feature that wasn't important then i would have just left it, but this is the MAIN support of your child, and i wasn't prepared to have this fail on us. the legs have to be fully apart to have the highchair locked correctly, and despite several attempts, i simply gave up and sent it back where it came from.
i have since bought mothercares version of the same design, which works and locks perfectly every time in the manner this one should have. and i saved £10, bonus.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Great affordable highchair

We brought this highchair for our son when he started weaning and i must say we think it's great, weve used it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day when were at home and our son has never resisted going in it.

It's reclining seat is great for when they are small and the tray you can position to how close or how far you want it from the baby.

It has a useful net storage basket under the seat, we used it for toys when our son was a baby to keep him amused, now it just holds bibs and wipes.

I know there are better chairs on the market that you can move up or down but unless you want to sit on the sofa or a low chair i'm not sure why you need a high chair so low.

I would buy this one again even now. It still looks good as new as it's wipe clean so ready for baby number 2!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Good but not great for the money.

I bought this highchair in Mothercare when it was on offer from £59.99 down to £39.99. Since I bought it, I have seen it on offer several times so worth hanging on till it goes into a promo if you can. It is currently £10 off on Mothercare website.

There were 3 main reasons I chose this highchair.

          1. It folds up easily and to quite a compact size. It stands securely (free-standing) when folded and is light enough to carry around kitchen.

          2. So many of the chairs I saw were in really gaudy colours. This one is just a nice blue with a discreet "scribble" pattern over it. (Cupcakes, Forks "Feed Me") . I have not seen this design elsewhere so may be exclusive to Mothercare.

          3. It felt very sturdy and the seat was well padded. Seemed like quite a luxurious seat compared to cheaper alternatives.

The chair comes partially assembled, you need to put the arms, basket, footrest, padded seat and harness onto the seat but this is very simple and I had it assembled in about 15 minutes.

The padded seat and harness are removable which means you can wash quite easily. The seat back has 3 reclining positions.

The tray has 4 positions to allow for baby's growth and can be removed from the chair to clean and store. It is a really good size, plenty of room for toys after lunch.

The basket underneath is quite large and is good for storing bibs and toys. I also find that things baby drops land in here which saves me picking up spoons and toys from all around the kitchen floor.

          Dimensions
          Seat height: 68cm
          Unfolded: H82 x W58 x D101cm
          Folded: H92 x W58 x D41cm
          Weight: 6.3kg

The instructions state that it is suitable from 6 months but I had my baby in there at 5 months as the seat is so well padded it propped him up securely.

I have had one problem with this highchair, where the padded backrest folds up agianst the frame it is starting to rip at the seams. I have emailed Chicco to complain and will update this review when I get a satisfactory reply.

The folding/unfolding of the chair took a few attempts before I could do it easily, but it has stayed very stable and secure even though I put it up and down several times every day.

Overall, I think it's an excellent frame but have an issue with the padded seat cover.
