“ Brand: Phil & Ted's / Type: Highchairs „
I was recently looking for a high chair for my daughter; I needed one for when we visited our caravan so it needed to be easy to transport and as small as possible. I had seen this advertised in a magazine and thought it looked great.
I bought the high chair from ebay it was around £30. The prices seem to vary a lot so it's definitely worth shopping around.
The high chair is made of fabric and has a metal frame that attaches to the edge of a table or breakfast bar etc. There is no need to worry about it damaging the area it is attached to as I have had no problem with this and the table we attach it to the most is a real oak table. It feels solid when it is fixed correctly so there is no risk of the baby falling (this did cross my mind when I first saw it on the table).
When I first saw the chair I was surprised by how small it folded down and how little space it actually takes up. The chair is a real space saver both when you are travelling with it but also when it is attached to the table. I particularly like the fact that it can be moved around the table as my two other children always want the baby sat next to them so this way we can change position of the chair with no hassle at all.
The thing I liked best about it is due to the fact it attaches to the table means we have found the child can eat from the table rather than the usual tray.
It comes in a variety of colors I chose the black one just because I was worried about it looking dirty, having previous experience of babies eating I know it's a messy business.
Once we began to use the chair I was surprised how easy it is for it to be wiped down if anything gets spilt on it. All you really need to do is get a damp cloth at the end of every meal and then wipe the cloth and metal parts down, I have found that by doing this it keeps the chair in really good condition and it doesn't look grubby as I worried it might.
I thought this was a good buy as it can be used from as soon as your child can sit up unaided up to the age of 3 so you are going to get a lot of use out of it. It also comes with a safety harness so there is no chance of your little one escaping!
So far I have already found this high chair invaluable it is so light and folds so small that it can fit in a change bag and can be used wherever there is a table eg friends house, restaurant, when you travel abroad etc.
We often travel away for weekends and this has been brilliant, we are able to just pack it in a bag and take it with us, it not only helps with eating but you can also sit your child in it if they want to do some drawing or play with their toys at a table when they are a little bit older.
The other good thing I have found is that it means your child can join the family at the table from an early age rather than sitting away in a normal highchair, they can sit right up to the table and I think it will help develop their social skills as well as giving them the opportunity to see what you are eating and develop their own eating skills too.
My family and me love this and would recommend it to everyone!!
Summary: A brilliant highchair which is portable
We first used the me too high chair at a trip to wagamammas and we ere very impressed. After using one at a Yo Sushi we decided to invest in one for our upcoming holiday so that we did not need to take a high chair with us- in order to save some space in the car. Our son was approximately 13 months old at the time.
The seat is made of a black nylon fabric with a steel support which scre4ws onto a variety of tables. There are adjustable safety straps that help to fix your child into the seat. The seat is very strong and sturdy and has tolerated a lot of bouncing by our energetic toddler.
You do need to be carefull as to the type of table that you fix the car seat to - it needs to be strong and sturdy, we have fixed it onto a standard picnic bench and the seat has enabled us to go on picnicsas a family, without having to chase a todler around a field or confine him to his pushchair.
Our son lovels sitting up at the table with us and we can enjoy family meal times all together. The seat also fits well into the shopping basket of the phil and teds sport buggy.
Overall I would recommend. We purchased the seat from Kiddicare and it has been one of our most useful baby purchases.
A total lifesaver! I love this - my husband and I saw this in our local Wagamama's in black and thought it was so good we hunted it down. We bought a red one. Had a bit of trouble getting hold of anyone with stock but eventually got it from Olivers babycare which was great. I bought two of these as we often have friends for tea and it has been absolutely invaluable. My daughter got fed up with her highchair quite young and so this enables her to sit at the table with the family, her own place mat and eat like a big peeson she loves it! It lasts for ages and will take babies up to 37lb/16.8kg so it has a lot of life left. We used the straps at first but now she doesn't like them but is very happy to sit in it at mealtimes. It's easy to clean - just washing up liquid and dry it on the line or over a radiator. You can't use it on certain types of tables - ie glass or leafed tables or any that might fall over but we've used on holiday/at friends houses etc and it's been great. Highly highly recommend it! In fact about 5 of my friends have also bought it once they've seen it.
As my hubby is from Wellington New Zealand where Phil and Ted's are based we often receive presents from his family of this brand's goods.
We recently received a "Me too" highchair for my gorgeous son Brad who is 5 months old already.
Where do I get it?
If you are not lucky enough to have relatives in NZ who will buy them for you try Kiddicare, John Lewis or Amazon. Prices vary Amazon and John Lewis charge £31.95 - Kiddicare currently £24.95 plus cashback through www.topcashback.co.uk so would recommend shopping around.
What does it look like and what does it do?
This is a portable product so it is, in effect a material seat with two leg holes and a metal front bar. It has two metal clamps that you fit onto the table and use the screw mechanism to secure to the table. Of course the benefit of this is that you can use it on almost any table out there (I won't say all tables because there is bound to be one that it does not work on !) It can also be attached to bench tops.
It comes in a black or red colour so is smart and as both colours are dark it hides the myriad of stains that go into a high chair! It has a great wipe clean feature - just use a wet cloth or baby wipe and the majority of the mess comes off.
WHen can I use it?
The blurb says from 6 months to 3 years (or up to 40 pounds / 18 Kg in weight) but Brad is 5 months and fine in it - so I would say that so long as your baby can sit up with support and you supervise them.
Why should I buy this rather than another high chair?
For me the benefits are huge.
1) it is incredibly light (less than 1 kg).
2) it works on almost any table or side.
3) it does genuinely wipe clean
4) it is easy to get baby in and out of (although I can imagine this is harder with a toddler)
5) It folds up to almost nothing so you can take it with you anywhere - it fits in my change bag with the reams of other baby equipment that you might need.
6) It also fits into the shopping tray of my buggy easily!
7) It just looks cool!
Are there any disadvantages?
I guess that the only one that I can think of is that this is not a proper chair so my baby will not learn to sit in one - BUT we will use this as well as a proper high chair at some stage so really no disadvantage at all!
Would I recommend it?
DEFINITELY - it is so small and portable that for £25 it is a worth investment!
