      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I love it! It's worth the price due to the length of time it will be used & additional features

I spent a long time looking at different types and brands of highchair whilst pregnant and after my Daughter was born. Due to the cost of all the essentials you need for a child, I really wanted to purchase items that have more than one use.

I had looked into highchairs that can turn into table and chairs afterwards and can remember the original ones being made of wood. I wanted something a little different and more modern looking. I was drawn to the Silvercross Doodle design because it is so different. It may not be the best looking highchair available however, it really makes up for that with all the extras that you get with it.

I have experienced other highchairs that only function as a highchair that includes extras such as being able to recline or being able to be made into a smaller chair. I looked at the reasons behind buying each product based on the extras offered. I realised that I did not really want something that my child would sleep in as I would rather that they got into the habit of sleeping where they are supposed to sleep not that they are supposed to eat.

The Doodle Highchair from Silver Cross, is an innovative design that converts into a mini play table and chair in seconds. It is suitable from 6 months to 2 years whilst in highchair mode and from 3 years to 6 years in table and chair mode.

The doodle costs £150 but is currently reduced to £100 and it comes with one chair. You can however purchase additional chairs which retail at £45 each - but Silver cross are currently selling them at £15. So it may not be the cheapest highchair out there but it has practical uses for a longer period of time so is worth the money.

The assemble process was very easy having come flatpacked. At first when I opened the box I thought oh no I have to put it together and went to get the screwdriver set but I did not need it! The chair has four legs which screw together underneath and this is the same with the table. You then pop the chair legs on top of the table into the slots which lock in with one easy push of the locking lever on each leg - so it has a four-way locking system. Then all you have to do is put the basket on the table with it's lid and clip on the tray and job done!

The Doodle is currently available in three colourways: aqua, lilac or stone. I chose the lilac for my Daughter and have also purchased three additional Doodle play chairs (crazy I know but I really love this item and hope my Daughter will have friends over to play - so they will get great use out of it when it turns into a play table!) Another note to mention is that Silvercross do sell additional harnesses for £7.50 so if you want to turn one of the other chairs into a low feeding chair - you can easily add this to it. I bought the extra harness to keep one of the smaller chairs at the Grandparent's house. This is due to experiencing what it is like to feed an 8 month old without strapping her into a chair - believe me it was not a pleasant experience!

At first I was worried that it did not have the padding that other highchairs have, however whilst on holiday I tried out another highchair that is new onto the market - which also has no padding. My Daughter was absolutely fine. So all the time I spent looking for a padded liner or thinking about making one was wasted. As soon as I put my Daughter in the Doodle she looked very at home and was strapped in safely with the 5-point harness. The tray table adds the fifth element of security due to it's leg divider underneath that separates your child's legs.

The tray table is easy to put on and take off completely with little levers underneath. The tray table also has three positions to enable you to adjust to your child's size. The table has a magnetic food tray which comes out completely for cleaning and is suitable for the dishwasher. I was worried about trapping my Daughter's fingers in the tray table but Silver Cross have carried out a lot of testing on this product and have confirmed that you cannot trap fingers in any part of it's design.

The Doddle is very easy to clean as there are no hidden areas for crumbs to hide, even the rubber seat pads come off to enable you to clean in addition to the table coming off and the harness.

The highchair is also easy to convert back to a play table just by pulling the four levers out of the four-way locking system. Another great feature is the storage basket hidden underneath the table. As a highchair you can store spare bibs, toys and any other item in the basket and these are hidden from site with the colour co-ordinated lid.
In play table mode, you can use this to store any toys or other items once playtime is over. So the mess is very easy to clear away out of sight!

Another added feature are the crayon pots that clip onto the table when it is in playtable mode. They slot into where the legs of the chair normally slot into when in highchair mode. Not that I have used this part of it yet, but it really is a no-brainer for functionality when used as a playtable.

I have used the highchair without the tray at the dinner table and it fits fine. So my Daughter has been able to eat at the table with us. Obviously this is something that you may need to check measurement wise, as the chair is not height adjustable, so may not fit all table heights if you want to use it for this purpose.

      In Summary:
I really love this table and have forgiven it for not having padding on the seat or for it's larger diameter (due to the table top and the arms on the chair) as it makes up for it in practicality and that it will be used much longer than other highchairs.
