Samsung HT Z310R ... the price £155 it is a great system, 1000W, the sound gets very loud and the bass is good, the speakers are good and the rear speakers are small but produce good sound. The other features include Bluetooth, DivX, the Bluetooth works well and the DivX playback is very useful, the jack on the front is handy for plugging in your iPod or other music devices. It looks good. The fan can get a bit noisy which can be a bit annoying but most of the time you do not notice it and you can live with it. The number of inputs are a bit limited only one Optical, it has hdmi and up scales your DVD, although the quality on my TV was quite poor. The usb socket on the front allows ... Philips HTS3357 ... owned this for around 6 months now, and have been reasonably pleased with the system. Being fussy and having a Philips tv, I partly chose this to match, but there are better looking systems on the market. The other deciding factor was cost, at £135 it offered great value for money compared to others. The dvd player itself is a bit on the large size and because of the storage unit i have caused me some problems. Apart from this set up was quite simple. The sound quality is brilliant, much better than just the tv speaker. One thing I found a little vague in the installation instructions was when setting up the speaker sound levels and delay settings. This wasnt really... Sony DAV DZ230 ... it looks fantastic, sounds fantastic but it does have a flaw. Starting with this flaw, the problem with this system from Sony is the lack of inputs available on the main player. It does not accept components, just scart leads, so you need an adapter for RGB components to scart if you want to play a few things through this such as an MP3 player or an ipod. This leads to another sub problem which is that it does not have a port for an ipod- I found this quite disappointing. On the plus side however, it sounds absolutely brilliant.
