MISSION BIPOLAR SPEAKERS EXCELLENT FOR AMBIENCE (Mission 70 DS)
Member Name: monkey_daz
Advantages: Great at creating ambience, excellent matching to 700 series, low profile Disadvantages: Can sound a bit strained if driven hard I have owned a pair of these bipolar speakers for several years and I must say they are very good indeed. I also own a pair of Definitive Technology BP1X which although have a slightly better sound do not do such a good job at spreading the sound around the room as these Mission's. These are particularly good if you can't get your surround speakers behind you as the slope on the cabinet is much greater than other manufacturer's bipolar efforts. You can put them either way up too since the badge is removable/rotateable. In white they simply disappear onto the wall which also describes the sound- they create a large environment beyond your walls giving believeable sound affects sometimes to make you wonder if you heard something outside, next door or in the film! They match extremely well with other 700 series speakers since they have the same soft dome silk tweeters and white Kevlar woven woofers. They come with a wall marking template to help you put screws in the wall in the right place for mounting. Summary: These speakers do the job better than expected given size. More suited to movie effects than music.
