This Samsung home cinema system is fantastic! You really do feel like you're at the cinema when you have this system turned on. You can turn it up really loud and it makes the sound effects in a film absoloutely brilliant. I would only reccomend this system to those who have space for it though because as you can see from the picture it has 4 large standing speakers which you will need to position around your room and then it has a large main speaker too. For the best experience from these speakers i would reccomend that you position them in different corners of your room.
If you have an HD TV the quality of the DVD's you play on this system is great too. You can also listen to the radio and CD's on this system which also play great and again you can have them very loud! The system is quite easy to operate once you've got it all set up, but i have to admit i did have a few difficulties initially setting it up and i had to get my partner to help. That could just be because i'm not technically minded though!
I could also get Freeview TV with this box which was handy although i couldn't work out how to have the surround sound on for the regular televison channels, only for my DVD's and CD's. I would highly reccomend this cinema system to any movie lover! It costs around £170 but it is worth it in the end.
I purchased this in February 2009 from Pixmania.com for £230.10. It is still available and I understand you can buy it for around £180.00.
The reason I purchased this model was because I have a Samsung TV and I wanted the makes to match! I also liked the tall speakers as you can get other Samsung surround sounds with smaller speakers which I don't like as much.
When they arrived, I had to download from Pixmania the user guide and put everything together. You get 4 tall speakers, 1 centre speaker, a subwoofer and DVD player.
The tall speakers came in three parts as you had to put the base on them and the speaker itself is in two parts. This was fairly easy to do. Once it was all put together I was than able to set it up through my TV and again this took me only a few minutes to do.
The system does have the option to have a wireless hub for the rear speakers and I am seriously considering purchasing this as I currently have wires trailing down the side of my living room which looks messy.
As for the sound quality...its excellent and I cannot fault this. I have always found the DVD fan to be noisy when its been in use for a long time (5/6 hours) It is now out of its one year warranty and I'm now finding that the fan is getting really noisy on occasions even if I haven't had it on for that long. I also find that the DVD tray is really slow in opening.
It's quite a large DVD player though which surprised me... its approximately 15 inches wide and approximately 12 inches deep and I would have preferred this to have been smaller.
The speaker stands are on a square shiny black base and they do scratch fairly easily as I've discovered to my misfortune but I'm pleased with the way that they look.
The subwoofer is a standard size that you would expect for a surround sound and the centre speaker is small and sits quite comfortably on the DVD Player. You can also wall mount this as there is a hole in the base to do so.
In view of what else was available at the time, I found this to be good value for money from a manufacturer who I've always favoured as I've never had any problems from their other products.. It looks and is high quality and all the knobs and buttons are still intact and working correctly after 15 months.. just a shame about the DVD player....
Crystal clear audio is created by the development and implementation of advanced technology. Samsung's DNSe (Digital Natural Sound engine) analyzes room acoustics to calibrate the equalization, tone, and volume of each speaker.
