I decided to upgrade my surround sound system sometime ago to take advantage of true 5.1 surround sound via coax or fibre optic while playing my Xbox or watching movies.
I decided on the HT X30 as to be honest, was the cheapest I could find, and was even cheaper than expected as it was an ex-display model.
Setting up is a piece of cake, the speaker ends are colour coded so you get the correct front/rear and left/right positions.
It has some pretty nice features like USB playback, radio and DVD upscalling. Although to be honest I have rarely used these features as my Xbox/PS3 can do everything the Samsung can do.
The sound quality is brilliant, when watching moves / playing games, you can truly appreciate the difference true surround sound systems can make with independent speakers outputting different sounds compared to your typical stereo.
Had this system for over 18 months now and have never had any problems with it, even as it was an ex display model.
I purchased my one of these 18 Months ago from my local Currys and to be honest it has never worked properly from the moment I bought it. This player has some great features such as digital upscaler, DIvX playback & a USB interface which you can plug your external Hard drive into and play your favourate movie rip's or your entire MP3 collection. The first problem i had was that the audio was not synced with the visuals, this is using official rented DVD's. It did not matter what DVD I put in they all had the same problem. I ended up taking the player back after a month or so to find out that i was not allowed to have another one i had to sen it away to be fixed, I was told i would get it back from Samsung in 2 weeks. When i finally got it back i realised that the lip syncing was only an intermittant problem now if i kept ejecting the DVD then reloading it evetually i would be able to watch the DVD with the lips in sync. I still have this problem today so if you are thinking of buying one it is woth asking the retailer what sort of service they can offer you if you get problems with the player.
All in all a great Multimedia system if it worked correctly, Although i do like playing my DVDrips via USB as i can have my whole collection on one HD watching in 1080i.
