I got this to add some cinema feel to the front room, and it done just that. Very easy to set up, and was working in about 10 minutes of unboxing it! I had a flick through some DVD's and being a biker, put on the Isle of Man TT - Closer to the Edge... Hearing superbike engines roaring past, and them sounding like they're in your front room! We then decided to try out the audio so I ran an audio cable between my PC and the unit, and got some tunes playing. There were some which were bassier on the headset, so I wasn't too impressed with that..... Until I found that I could turn the bass up. So I did, and it still wasn't enough. A quick scan of the remote, and I found a sneaky little button, called "Bass Boost". I turned it on and the music stopped. A few seconds later it came back. wow. Just wow.
This is an amazing home theater system if you're on a budget. It's so easy to set up, and the small speakers don't intrude on space. Very nice to play with!
We had a few movie nights where we played the DVD's through the system and they were awesome! Films like Taken, 300, and 28 days later, all sounded fantastic!
Setting the system up is extremely easy. The speakers have coloured stickers on the back, which you connect to that colour on the back of the base station. All the speaker cables are stripped on one side, and have the coloured connectors on the other, making it almost impossible to get wrong. You just need to position the speakers, give it a quick test, and you're away!
I love this system and would recommend it to anyone on a budget, who would just like to make their DVD's sound awesome!
I am not a techie but wanted to share my thoughts on our home cinema system. We bought the Samsung HTZ310 about 3 years ago at the same time as buying our first ever plasma TV - also a Samsung. I think it was about £250 at the time and was recommended to us by the salesman who sold us our new TV. The main DVD player came with 4 small speakers (2 front, 2 rear) a centre speaker and a large sub-woofer speaker. We have wall mounted the 2 front ones. The speaker cables are pretty long so you can fix them anywhere in even the biggest of lounges. It has a 1 disc capacity and supports CD/CDR/CDRW/DVD/DVDR/DVDRW.
==How to use/sound quality==
It was easy to install and set up and works well with our TV apart from some sound issues (described later). It has its own remote which we use to turn it on but our sky remote is now configured to control the sound levels. Sound quality is good when watching DVDs or TV but we do have issues when watching live sport. It is not our Sky box as we have a new one now so it must be the home cinema system. It is a really annoying issue as when there is live sport on the sound quality changes and we get crowd noise above commentator noise, it only sorts itself out when the volume is increased and then reduced but this might have to be done several times in a sporting event
Generally a good system for the money. We are on our third unit now as 2 previous units have failed (first the DVD player broke and then the second the sound went totally). We had insurance so we were able to get new players both times. The live sports sound quality has remained bad.
The samsung HT Z310 home cinema system is a perfect system if you do not want to spend too much on a surround sound system. I have had this system for a few months now and i use it pretty much all the time, sports movies and some times even a bit of corrie. I have my sky + box, x-box 360 and ipod all hooked up so i can flick between systems without having to mess with the inputs at the back. One of the great things about this model is that the satelite speakers don't stand out in the room like other models do, the cables are very long and easy to hide so you can put the speakers pretty much anywhere in the room. The system also benefits from 1080p upscaling so any dvds you watch are a lot clearer than a standard dvd player. There is also a usb input which can read picture music and videos of many formats and it is very easy to navigate through the menus. I would really recommend this product to anyone wanting to buy a cinema system under £200.
