I bought this item off ebay for less than £100 a year ago and was really excited to set up my kit and go until i realised that straight away i was going to have some major problems.
First of all was setting up the speakers, which was a little bit fiddly but fairly straight forward because sony provide you with colour coded cables so you know what goes where. I then attempted to but my speakers on a pretty expensive set of universal speaker stands, Only to realise that rather unfairly, sony speakers will only fit on their own brand of stand. This was my first big problem.
My second problem was that it only has ONE AV SOCKET, so you have the option of either using the built in DVD player and outputting the video, or using an external device to put the surround sound speakers. If like most homes you have many devices you want to link up to your surround sound, then this product is not for you. I have tried many ways of trying to get round this problem using Multi AV adapters, but this just added to the problem.
Once the system is set up - The DAVDZ30 is actually not a bad peice of kit. There arent too many features available but is user friendly and very straightforward. The volume goes quite high, the bass is great, and the picture quality is above average.
This is perfect if you are after a cheap, easy to use surround sound, but please dont expect any thrills. If you have a lot of devices you want too connect to the speakers - please dont buy this, buy a more expensive model, or a Philips surround sound (Highly Rated and Great Value)
