... have had this Model for 6 months now and it still is superb. the sound quality is fantastic.I compared it to a recent buy my friend had of another serious competitor to Sony, and this was by for the best. Sony DAV SC 5 ... surround sound system looks great and the sound it produces is excellent. It has plenty of inputs for digital optical (tos link) scart RGB, composite. It is easy to setup and works well with other Sony equipment such as TV s with smart link. Unfortunately I had to get my unit repaired after just over a year, it turns out there is a known problem with the DVD processing chip which causes the device to lockup , after various calls to the Sony customer services department I finally got them to pay for the repairs as it was out of warranty, which kind of confirms that they acknowledge there is a problem with this device. Sony DAV DZ230 ... it looks fantastic, sounds fantastic but it does have a flaw. Starting with this flaw, the problem with this system from Sony is the lack of inputs available on the main player. It does not accept components, just scart leads, so you need an adapter for RGB components to scart if you want to play a few things through this such as an MP3 player or an ipod. This leads to another sub problem which is that it does not have a port for an ipod- I found this quite disappointing. On the plus side however, it sounds absolutely brilliant. Sony DAV DZ660 ... recently bought this surround sound system to go with my Sony Bravia tv ( w4000 ) This system was the best value system by far that i could get for the money, some of the features i particularly like are the full 1080p upscaling dvd player wich realy does make a huge difference to the quality of the picture producing darker blacks and much cripser lines when watching a dvd. It is very easy to set up using the auto callibration mic and the menu is easy to navigate. The sound quality is very good it has 850 watts speakers which realy pack a punch.
