Advantages: lots of bubbles
Disadvantages: noisy
BUBBLE BUBBLE LOTS OF BUBBLES We have a bubble tube in the sensory room at work. The tube stands in the corner about 3foot high. It is a bout 5 inches in diameter. The tube is made of a clear non- breakable glasslike material. It is filled with water distilled water not water straight from the tap or it will go green with algae. When the electric is switched on it makes bubbles, which rise, from the bottom of the tube a light comes on at the bottom of the tube, which shines through a colour filter. This tube is a blue coloured mass of bubbles shining in the corner of our sensory room. Sadly it makes a terrible noise, which I do not like, aggravates my migraines so I often switch it of if I am in the sensory room with children. Our less able children enjoy watching the bubbles form and rise up the tube so it is stimulating their vision senses. Unfortunately we have a couple of children who are more able and like to go and pull at climb on/over around the tube they try and pull it out so it is unsafe unless supervised. We have another child who just goes and sits by the bubble tube and watches the bubbles rise he is mesmerised by it. I can see that if it were a quiet tube of coloured bubbles that it would be good for calming, a peaceful thing to watch and it would help stimulate vision but it is too noisy. Thank you for reading a little about what we use and do at my workplace.Mary
