Advantages: Great price, good quality, lovely colour.
Disadvantages: None
I bought this shaggy blue rug from Argos to put down in one of the bedrooms. Blue is my favourite colour and I think it was the actual colour of this rug which appealed as well as the price. I didn't want to pay a lot but did want a quality product.
Reduced in price at Argos from £54.99 to just £17.99 it was too much of a bargain to pass up on for a rug measuring 190 x 135 cm.
Prior to spotting this rug I had been looking at another blue shaggy rug in Argos which I also liked the look of, but with a price tag of over £150 it was far more than I was prepared to pay. Indeed my only requirements were that it was shaggy, blue in colour, reasonably priced and of a reasonable quality.
The rug was described as being chunky and soft-to-touch, but is also hard-wearing and I can confirm that it is fairly chunky and soft-to-touch and whilst time will tell how hard wearing it is, I can honestly say it does seem to be of good quality and I should imagine it will last a fair amount of time. When I rolled it out, it didn't seem as chunky as I first thought but once it fluffed up a little, I was happy with it.
I have purchased more expensive rugs in the past for my lounge and found them not to be of the quality I expected for paying such a high price and so on purchasing this one for a bedroom I was initially happy with my purchase and its bargain price.
The rug is 100% polyester as you would expect given the price and has a woven backing. The ends underneath are doubled over and stitched well. I can't imagine it fraying or coming away at any time.
As with all shaggy rugs I have purchased this rug did moult a little during the first few days after laying it and I was worried incase it was going to keep doing that, but after a couple of times being hoovered, it stopped. Now and then there seems to be the odd bit of fluff coming off it but nothing serious.
You are advised to sponge clean this rug and I must admit I forgot about this and went over it with my Vax carpet cleaner recently, but it was absolutely fine. There was a slight make up stain in one corner and it came off easily enough.
The rug is also available in a smaller 170cm x 110cm size and this is also available at a reduced price of £13.99. They are still available from Argos and so now is the time to buy if you want to grab a bargain.
I am not sure if I would have this rug in my lounge as I prefer a slightly chunkier rug for there, but as a bedroom rug I am more than happy with it and for the price paid it is indeed a bargain. I have paid a lot more than £17.99 for a rug before only to be disappointed and so bearing that in mind, this rug is a quality bargain buy.
Summary: A bargain-priced rug which is of better quality than some more expensive rugs I have purchased.
