“ Brand: Argos / Type: Cabinet „
I bought these cabinets for my bathroom as I thought they were very good value for money.
They were £49.99 from Argos. I like shopping in Argos as it's easy enough to just fill in a piece of paper with the order number and pick up the item. The only problem is you can't see them before you can buy it but the picture in the magazine was clear enough to make it look decent and it reflected it well.
It was heavy to carry so my husband carried them.
It is 3 cabinets long you have 3 doors all of which have little mirrors on and it's made of wood painted white, it's very simple and nice looking. It doesn't look expensive or the best quality but it does look well in my bathroom. It is also easy to clean because it's very smooth with few bits for dust to hide in.
The width of cupboards are good, it holds the size of a toilet roll wide and the shelf can be positioned so you can fit in tall items too. It is very good for holding lots of things, I think it is just about the right size for our bathroom to house all of our toiletries.
It looks nice on the wall, it's not too big and it doesn't intrude into the room too much. The mirrors are nice it means we don't need to get a separate mirror too which I like.
It took my husband about an hour to put together and fix to the wall. You can also buy a smaller version which just had 2 doors on it.
I personally think that for £50 this is a very good product and I'm really pleased that we bought it. I know it doesn't look amazing but it is nice enough for on our wall.
I have explained in previous reviews that choosing items for my bathroom can be difficult owing to the excessive condensation that occurs in this room. So, when buying a fitting or accessory I have to bear in mind that the item probably won't last very long, well not looking its best at any rate. I try not to buy anything too expensive for this room as it just isn't worth it. If I bought expensive items I would get upset at their short life span. I always look for something as practical as possible. But still, it is nice to have something that looks good. My previous bathroom cabinet was chrome effect, very modern and minimalist in style. It looked good and matched the rest of the bathroom, as the bathroom had been decorated just before buying this, but it soon started to rust and didn't look good at all. I thought that a plastic cabinet would be the most practical option, but was disappointed to find that plastic just isn't the thing anymore. Fittings made in this material are lacking in the marketplace.
I looked on one of my favourite retailer's websites, Argos, along with some others, and thought the best option that I could get, although not expecting this to last long under the damp conditions it would be subjected to, was the Argos Traditional Three Door White Cabinet. The reason that I chose this unit was because:
It was a good size to fit in the space available for it, and it being three doors would provide more storage space than the previous two door cupboard.
The colour. I thought white would look pleasant and clean in my bathroom and blend in with the white bathroom suite, not looking too amiss with some chrome fittings that are already in place.
Its general appearance. I believe that the three mirrored doors looked attractive.
The price. I had looked around and therefore thought that this wasn't a bad price for a three door cabinet of this type and style. £49.99
Before purchasing with Argos I usually reserve online so that I don't have a wasted journey. It's better to simply click and reserve so that when I arrive at the store I simply fill in my reservation number and then can choose to pay at the tills or use a debit or credit card in the easy pay machines provided. It's a quick and easy service which I regularly use.
The cabinet came flat packed so once again my husband had a small DIY job to keep him occupied. It was very simple and didn't require much skill. Fittings and simple instructions are provided so really it's just a case of fixing the screws and making sure the door hinges are correctly aligned. It was a quick task, taking under an hour to complete.
Next came the fixing to the bathroom wall. This should also be quite easy but some of our walls aren't the best for this sort of job being particularly hard in places and resistant to the fitting of screws. Still, he gets there in the end, after a bit of under the breath muttering, which I pretend to not hear.
Once up on the wall, near to the sink, (so that one mirrored door can be used as a shaving mirror) I was pleased with the look.
The two outside cupboards both have an internal shelf. The height of the cupboards lends itself to most toiletries fitting in nicely, but items such as large deodorant sprays or shaving foams need to be housed in the middle section where the absence of a shelf allows taller items to be stored.
I took care to fill this and it was a luxury to have the extra space. I designated one third for my husband's use. Here he could keep his razors, blades, shaving foams and deodorant. It seemed to me as if he had plenty of room although he still will not put away his shaving foam. I have become so fed up with him leaving the foam out when he has so much space that I hide it in the back of the under basin cupboard. I thought if he had to search for it he might take the hint. It hasn't but he does still shave!
I use another third of the cabinet for medicines such as TCP, Calamine lotion etc. The final section I mostly filled with my daughter's facial washes and cleansers, as well as a couple of my toiletries.
Now it has been in place for a while I would say that the exterior still looks quite decent. It is easy to clean as well. But it does get wet inside as well as outside and I think maybe the veneer is showing signs that it will soon begin to come apart a little.
I believe that in a normal bathroom with only minimal to moderate condensation this cabinet would last well and remain looking good. Because of this I would recommend it and say that it is a good product.
