CHAIRS.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Then I will begin.

Chairs are a piece of furniture in all homes

Kitchen chairs dining chairs computer chairs bedroom chairs, chairs that are part of your three-piece suite in the sitting room, garden chairs, high chairs low chairs nursing chairs. Occasional chairs camping chairs wheelchairs

So where do I begin which chairs shall I discuss?

Well all chairs have one thing in common they must be comfortable.
I touched on chairs when I talked about sofas in an previous pop and said my parents three piece suite chairs were uncomfortable, I preferred to sit on the floor.
For me comfort is the first priority in an armchair. if you are going to sit in front of the box all night you want to be comfortable. So it is a very important factor.
Try the chairs you are going to buy, sit on them not just for a second but also for a few minutes.
You may find a different chair comfortable to me our bodies is different heights and weights so go on try before you buy
What makes a chair comfortable?
What it is made of is important the filling/stuffing is it a hard firm seat? Or is it a soggy soft seat where you sink right down or is it soft but firm giving your body some support but some comfort.
.
Height is a very important factor too high and your feet dangle in mid air. Too short and you feel like a child again legs dangling
The distance between the front of the seat and the back is important to. Too short and you feel as if you are just perched on it slipping of the front.

Too long a distance here is equally as bad you cannot sit back comfortably.
The height of the back of your armchair is important too and the angle at which it is set. I find a short/low back uncomfortable does not give my back enough support
. The angle is important too, too straight and you feel like you are sitting in a doctor?s waiting room to watch the TV. I
like to sit back a little the back of the chair does need to be a little firm offer some support otherwise I get a sore achy back and shoulders.

Dining chairs I have owned several sets the best been the old nearly antique simple beech ones I have now
We have owned various dining chairs over the years The first being ones my aunt in law gave us when we set up our love nest very many years ago these were ones she no longer needed they had a fabric seat fine if you have no messy eaters spilling there chocolate mouse and blackcurrant (sleepy dormouse!) on them they needed constant cleaning and wiping
We bought some Pine stick them together you jobs.
These chairs were cheap about £3 each 15 years ago not very comfortable, shape of the back was not comfortable. They started to fall to pieces the glue not very strong .we used some stronger glue when we repaired them but still they fell apart the holes to put the back spindles were perhaps not deep enough for a strong fit.
However we still have on we use in the kitchen occasionally.

These disassembled so we asked a friend who at that time sold old furniture if he ever came across some dining chairs? and he did he stripped the old varnish and re polished them
They are not too big to crowd out the table when we are seating 6 guests.

We bought some wooden fold up chairs about 4 years ago as we were having a party and needed a few extra chairs so we bought these at about £6 each from a shop I think was called cargo. These have been good as occasional extra chairs as they fold up out of the way, are fairly comfortable use them on the patio in the summer if we need extra chairs outside have one in sally?s (sleepydormouses) old bedroom.
So certainly well worth buying for those occasional extra visitors.

Computer chairs I think a comfortable computer chair is important they range from about 35 pounds upwards again sit on it before purchase. Computer chairs usu
ally have an adjustable height and back support and the seat swivels

Nursing chairs well how many mums had one? When I was training it was included in the list of nursery equipment. Maybe not a specialist one but a good seat for nursing /feeding baby is important a comfortable seat with plenty of space no arms on the chair is a good idea

Wheel chairs well I spend a fair bit of time pushing these around in my job. They should be fitted for a client by a wheelchair specialist and a suitable fit bought the wheelchairs I push are not electric ones I dread to think of my pupils with an electric one. Some wheelchairs are easier to push than others the height of the handles are important I push one that gives me dreadful back pain. Wheelchairs need to be serviced regularly

Well I think I have rambled on about chairs in general long enough I did forget to mention the wonderful old rocking chair my romantic boyfriend carried home about 2 miles to our love nest as a present for me we sadly parted with it many years later.
Thanks for letting me bore you I will read you in return ?best wish Mary

BTW, thanks for your advice, my reading and rating of other peoples opinions is starting to pay off for me. Thanks :)

Nice review :) We had a nice rocking chair in the lounge that I used to use quite frequently, until Mum decided to disallow it as it caused marks on the rug. Shame as it was extremely comfortable.

My boyfriend got a boil on his back from sitting on a dodgy chair, we should all be more grateful about comfy chairs lol, good opinion vicky x
