Let me set the scene for you. I am sat on the sofa reading a book .my husband brings me a cup of coffee I take it in my hand .I pick up the TV control with my other hand to change channels then my husband offers me a biscuit, how do I take one my hands are full do I place everything on the floor, balance them on the sofa? Do I just try and juggle them between my hands/ no I place them on the coffee table while I help myself to a biscuit.

My coffee table we have had it for about 20 years. It is a very useful piece of furniture.
Let me describe it. It is just over 1 metre long 20 cm wide rectangular with curved rounded corners it has a magazine shelf/rack underneath it.
It has 4 legs fixed at each corner .A fairly solid table a light tan /brown colour it is the sort of table that should last forever.
We bought it from a furniture shop called lucus. The make is Ercol it was expensive, or we thought so when we bought it think about £20 can’t really remember and no longer have the receipt. But we felt it was probably worth it we wanted to buy a coffee table we liked and thought would last a long time.

It is made from beech wood and I polish it frequently with a wax polish and it is still in good condition (apart from a biro mark made by my dear daughter when she was young) When I put a hot mug onto it I make sure I have a coaster underneath the mug to protect the wood from the heat I hate to see cup rings on tables
Coffee tables are a useful piece of furniture my parents have some nesting tables, which are very useful space saving and convenient to put cups and clutter on these are a dark wood. Matches the décor in their room.
Coffee tables can be obtained in various designs with or without paper racks, a variety of sizes. Can be made from various woods and in different wood colours or you can even get painted ones. Coffee tables are also available in plastic or with a glass table top prefer a solid wood coffee tabl
e always nervous about breaking the glass topped ones.
Coffee tables are useful for small children to lean on when they are colouring in pictures ,best put a tray or something under tier work so they do not spoil the varnish.

I often(sometimes) have tea in the sitting room, my coffee table big enough for a few plates with cakes and sandwiches displayed.
Just looked in my littlewoods catalogue coffee tables there priced from £34.99p upwards£ 59.00 £99.00 £129.00 £179.00 wow pricey I will make sure mine lasts a lifetime or more
