      A comfortable yet overpriced office chair

      Argos Cream Luxury Office Chair

      My existing office chair had served me well for the past few years, but by now had a few tears and the sponge underneath was showing. I spend a lot of time on the computer and I therefore like to sit in a comfortable chair that is well-padded. I looked around at a few shops but couldn't find many that sell good quality office chairs at a reasonable price. I decided to buy this during the January sales from Argos. I am not sure if Argos are the only company selling these. I am happy with the chair itself, but getting hold of it was the problem.

      I initially bought this office chair in a brown colour, as that was on sale. I went into my local Argos store on a Thursday and was told I would receive it in two days time. I waited all day on Saturday, but the chair never arrived. I phoned the number I had been told to ring if I had any problems with my order, and was told it was still in the warehouse and I should receive it in the next few days. Anyway, after being told the same kind of thing repeatedly whenever I phoned, I rang again about a week or so later, and this time was told they didn't have the chair in stock and they couldn't give me a date as to when it would be back in stock again. The number I had to ring was a 0845 number, which cost quite a bit as that is not part of my monthly minute's allowance.
      I waited six weeks, but still no chair. I went into my local store and the lady on the counter tried to help. I explained what had happened and I asked to get this cream chair instead of the brown one as they had this in stock and they still didn't know when the brown one would be back in stock again. This cream coloured chair wasn't on sale so I asked for it to be sold to me at the same price as the brown one, as I had waited six weeks by this time. She phoned the home delivery order number on my behalf. Even she had problems with the guy on the other end who seemed to say he wouldn't change the order and if I wasn't happy then he didn't care. In the end, the lady had to go and speak to her store manager and got it sorted out.
      I would have liked to have received some kind of compensation even something as small as saying we will deliver the chair for free because of all the problems you have had.

      Finally, after two months, the chair came flat packed in a large cardboard box when it arrived. I got someone else to assemble the chair for me and it seemed to be easy enough as I didn't hear any complaining. It came with a booklet with diagrams on how to put it together.
      The leather material it is made of feels very nice and smooth. It is easy to wipe down. Design wise, it looks nice and well crafted. Time will tell as to how durable it is. I am not sure about the stitches in the leather which may end up breaking causing the leather to split. I like the comfortable back rest on this. It has a nice embossed section near the top for you to rest your head on and it is well padded. I would have liked some more padding on the bottom cushion though. (I would have liked a bit more padding in the centre where it dips slightly). I also like the fact that the arm rests have some padding on them. My last chair had plain plastic arm rests.

      It has a lever to lift and raise the chair. From the description on the Argos site, it seems like this also has a lever to allow you to adjust and lock the back rest but this is not the case. I would have liked to have been able to tilt the chair back. It does tilt back when you sit in it. It may be a feature for people who are big boned, but it then springs back to its normal position.

      == Technical details ==
      These are taken from the Argos site:
      - Overall size H119, W64, D74cm.
      - Weight 17.2kg.
      - Seat height adjustable from 53 to 63cm.
      - Seat W55, D53cm.
      - Maximum user weight 110kg (17st5lb).

      == Price and availability ==
      As of this writing, this is selling for £149.99 on the Argos site. I wouldn't have bought this at the current price. The best thing would be to wait until there is a sale, during Christmas / New Year and then pick it up for a lower price.

      == Summary and recommendation ==
      I like the chair itself. It is comfortable to sit in for long periods of time without getting back ache. It is also easy to clean.
      However, it seems overpriced at the current price and the major thing letting it down is the delivery problems I had with Argos. For that reason, I am giving this three stars.
