Decofun Disney Princess Toy Storage
Advantages: well made, well priced
My youngest daughter has always been a big fan of Disney Princess from a young age. A couple of years ago when she was two, we started to think about getting her a dressing up collection started. She obviously needed somewhere to store all her costumes and accessories, so after some researching we bought her the toy storage box in a Disney princess theme by Deco fun. I paid around £30 for this storage box a couple of years ago.
The box arrives with you flat packed, but even a DIY novice can complete this task and I managed to put it together in around twenty minutes. This was largely due to the larger side panels being quite heavy and I was having to balance them against the short sides whilst using the screw driver.
Being made of wood, immediately the storage box comes across as being good quality. So many storage solutions are made of thick cardboard or fabric which look lovely but in reality they don't stand up to any weight or play from children.
The flat pack arrives in as few pieces as possible, comprising of four side panels, a lid, hinges and a catch to secure the lid to the box.
The wood is painted and adorned with Disney princesses, all finished with a smooth lacquer coating. There were no sharp edges or even anything remotely dodgy looking and believe me I checked as this was for my daughter's bedroom at the time.
The finished toy box measures 75cm length, 49cm high, 32cm deep. Acting as a toy box and a bench in one this is a great addition to any little girl's room.
As we fast forward through a couple of years of using the toy box, we have found it to be an invaluable resource in our home. The toy box looks as good as the day it arrived with us. The edges still look and feel smooth, nothing is chipping from the sides or edges where it's been moved around the room.
As mentioned we have always used it for a dressing up box as it fits well with what my daughter wanted in her princess room theme. You can literally use this box for anything you want to be fair. The base is sturdy to hold books, toys etc.
Part of me was worried about the lid when we first started to use the box as little fingers get trapped easily. Happily, the hinges work well and the lid appears to make a soft landing ninety percent of the time. We haven't yet got anything trapped between the lid and box.
Overall I have been more than pleased with my purchase. So many of my other mistakes by buying cheap badly made rubbish from less than good quality materials have put me off no end. Despite this budget price, the toy box stands up to children extremely well.
Summary: a great addition to a little girl's room
