After transforming my daughters bedroom in to a Disney Princess bedroom last year we realised she needed more storage for her books. After some researching, we came across the Disney Princess Sling Bookcase... ===About=== The Disney Princess Sling Bookcase is made by Worlds Apart. There are many other Sling Bookcase designs available which include Thomas, Peppa Pig and Hello Kitty. The bookcase is recommended for the 2 - 5 year age group. The dimensions of the bookcase are 51 (l) x 23 (w) x 60 (h) cm. It's a storage solution for books of different shapes and sizes. ===Contents=== Unfortunately the bookcase isn't already assembled and has to be assembled at home. It comes in a cardboard box and is a little bit heavy. The contents of the box include 2 pieces of MDF (these are the 2 sides of the bookcase), 5 poles (which the sling hangs from to create 4 different levels), a polyester sling and some screws. It took us about 15 minutes to set up. ===Look=== The bookcase is very bright, attractive and is sure to please all Disney Princess fans. It fits in to my daughters Disney Princess bedroom perfectly and matches all of her other furniture. It also looks like good quality. The 2 sides of the bookcase feature Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Cinderella surrounded by sparkles. The polyester sling is a bright pink colour and the sides/frame are a light pink colour. ===Price & Availability=== The Disney Princess Sling Bookcase is available at lots of different retailers including Argos, Amazon, Mothercare, The Entertainer and Toys R Us. Prices generally range from £25.00 - £35.00. I believe we paid £30.00 for ours from Argos. ===Overall=== The bookcase was easy enough to set up. I was a bit surprised at how small it was, I assumed from the pictures that it would have been slightly bigger and especially for the price! I can't say I was disappointed though as it seemed the perfect size for my 4 year old daughter and seemed like it would hold plenty of books. I still think the bookcase is slightly overpriced though. £15.00 - £20.00 would seem a more reasonable price for a childrens bookcase made from MDF and polyester! The bookcase is very sturdy and solid. We have never had any incidents with ours. I don't think it's big enough or heavy enough to be classed as a potential danger and as long as they screws are fitted properly then their shouldn't be any potential hazards for young children. The age recommendation is 2 - 5 years, I would say the lower age limit is fine but I can't see why the upper age limit is so low. I would say up to around 7 years is more realistic (my daughter is currently 5 years and is more than happy with her bookcase). It's the perfect size for the age range and my daughter can easily pick and choose which books she wants from the bookcase. The whole bookcase can be wiped clean too. There are 4 different levels to the bookcase and you can fit plenty of books inside. I recently counted the amount of books in my daughters bookcase and there are 25 books inside it (and probably space for a couple more). If you store thin books and magazines in the bookcase, then you could probably fit LOADS inside. However the bookcase isn't really suitable for heavy/hardback books. If you overfill the sling, the poles can fall out! If you put a book that is too heavy inside, it tends to lean forward. I store a few of her big hardback books in the Sling Bookcase (spread in between levels) but keep most of them in separate storage. My daughter has way more books than can fit in to the bookcase, so we tend to keep her favourites in her bookcase and the rest in separate storage (under the bed drawer!). Not only does this good quality bookcase keep my daughters books safe but it looks great in her bedroom. She loves her bookcase and I'm happy to recommend it to others.
