Dolphin Bathroom Company is one of the largest, so they have the monopoly in this trade. They travel nationwide and advertise well on the Internet and TV. Their range is extensive and varied but most of all 'OVERPRICED'.

I am looking into refurbishing my bathroom, as it is now a little tired. I usually get a few quotes before I decide whom to go with.

Last week I visited the website and filled in the necessary form in order to get an appointment. The very next morning a helpful receptionist telephoned me to confirm my details and requirements and we duly arranged an appointment. This is difficult for my husband and I as we work full time and only have the evenings free. We agreed on an evening (which would take up 2-3 hours of our time). We then cancelled other commitments for this day.

Yesterday afternoon the designer telephoned me at work and said he was having trouble with his car, and coming from Newbury, this would make his arrival very late. I said we could re-schedule, as it would make the evening both late for him and I. He was a really nice chatty guy. He told me then that the consultation would take up two or three hours and how much did I expect the quote to be. I replied I was thinking about £3-4,000 max. Well when he told me £10,000 minimum I nearly fell off my chair. I was rather angry, as all of us we have little time these days to spare, and the thought of a wasted evening annoyed me. Dolphin should say what the approximate cost of a fully refurbed bathroom should cost us. I chatted to this man for a little longer and he told me he had gone to some house miles away from his base, and it was obvious to a blind man that this person had no money.

Dolphin is meant to be having a half price sale at the moment. I asked him if this quote was the half price offer, and he told me that it included this. Call me stupid if you like but who would pay £20,000 (except for the rich) for a refurbed bathroom?

All in all I am really disappointed in this company, and my advise would be to stay away unless you have lots of spare cash, even then, read other reviews on this site first. Ask them roughly how much it will cost before they take up your time.

I wonder how this company is still viable!
