As you may see from a previous review when me and my Husband moved into our house we purchased ourselves new Bedroom furniture which barely lasted a year, we had to replace the whole set due to it falling apart and we decided to replace it with the Hygena Strand Range. One of the items we bought was the Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest, it contained 1 less draw that the previous set we had however this didn't really matter too much and would be worth it if it lasted longer that the original set we had. The Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest came with minimal packaging as the chest of draws came ready assembled, it came with thick cardboard wrapped around the corners, base and top of the chest and then the whole thing was wrapped up in thick polythene to protect the whole unit and also hold the cardboard in place. This was literally the only packaging that the chest of draws came with and when we unpackaged it the top of the chest of draws was all dented with a piece broken off, something had obviously fallen on it prior to it being delivered so personally I would say that better packaging is required to fully protect the chest of draws, however this wasn't really a problem as they were quickly replaced within a few days and the new set came in perfect condition. The chest of draws has a contemporary and modern look with a rounded top to it, it is divided up into 5 large rectangle draws which are on easy glide metal runners, each draw has a long thin rounded brush chrome handle. The Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest is of a reasonable size measuring 116cm (H) x 90cm (W) x 45cm (D) we do not have huge bedrooms in our house and this chest of draws is large enough to accommodate all of our belongings without taking up a large amount of room. The whole unit is very sturdy and stable, the flat top and height of the chest allows us to have it at the bottom of our bed with a TV on it, there is no worry of the unit falling apart with the TV on as there was with our original chest of draws we had in its place. The rounded edges to the top sides of the chest of draws means that you can not have it flat against a side wall, there will always be a bit of a gap, however this is not a problem for us. This particular chest of draws comes in an Oak finish with a strand type wood grain to it, the colour is ideal in our opinion as it is not too light but not too dark, when we purchased ours there was no other colour to choose from but again we were not too bothered by this as we found that the Oak was ideal for what we wanted. As I have mentioned the Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest comes ready assembled, the only thing we had to do was to unscrew the handles which had been screwed on the inside of the draws and fix them in the correct place on the front of each draw. We found this a much better idea than having to put the chest of draws together ourselves, the only thing we found with the draws being ready assembled was that getting them up the stairs was a bit tricky, however we were lucky and the delivery men offered to take them up for us, I think if I had had to try and help my Husband take them up the stairs we would have struggled as they would not have been the easiest thing to carry. We purchased our Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest from Argos, this product is still available from here and is currently being sold for £259.99, when we purchased ours we paid quite a bit less for them, however this was a little while ago and from I can remember we did get money off for buying more than one item at a time. Personally I feel that the current price is a little bit on he expensive side, however the chest is strong and sturdy so I would expect it to be a bit more expensive than the original chest we bought that fell apart. We have had our Hygena Strand Assembled 5 Draw Chest for quite a while now and we have been extremely pleased with it, it is so much stronger and sturdier than our original chest of draws, the frame does not wobble at all and you do not have to worry about whether it is going to collapse on you. The draws are of a good size and me and my husband can easily fit all of our clothes etc in them. The chest looks stylish and will go with most styles, whilst I do feel it is a little on the expensive side, I would rather pay a bit more and know that it isn't going to fall apart. If I had to mention one disadvantage it would be that on a couple of the draws the hardboard bases have bowed a little, however this wasn't too much of a problem as we fitted small blocks to the underside of the draw where they cannot be seen in order to support the bases of the draws where we have slighter heavier things in them. Overall we have been very pleased with the chest of draws and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to replace their bedroom furniture.
