Ikea's Billy bookcase is fantastic for the price. Its sturdy and stylish and comes in a range of colours - pale wood, dark wood, different colour stains and sizes - full size as in the above picture and 1/2 size.

Billy bookcases are a cheap because they are made from wood veneer, but this makes them affordable to most. We have had ours now for 5 years, and moved house once and it still as good as new.

The shelves can be adjusted for a variety of different sized book, CD's, DVDS etc.

Like nearly all IKEA furniture it comes flat packed, but we found it easy to assemble, and followed the instructions without any trouble.

Now IKEA also do a range of doors and shelves and add-ons including lights so you can really customise them to suit your living space.

Really for the money I think you would be hard pushed to find a better bookcase.

Summary: Perfect for setting up home
