I bought these bookcases when we moved into our new unfurnished flat, we were trying to get the most out of our relatively low funds, so a trip to Ikea was on the agenda!

We chose two of the tall Billy bookcases, and two of the tall sets of CD shelves.

- Assembly -

They were relatively easy to assemble, and far quicker than other Ikea items we had also bought. The instructions are fairly simple to follow, however you will probably find yourself with some left over pieces wondering whether they should be in the bookcase somewhere.

You can choose where the shelves are placed, and you can buy additional shelves, as well as glass shelves. We set ours to DVD height, and bought a glass shelf for the top of each of the bookcases for displaying photos etc.

You will need to nail the backboard in, which is fine when you assemble the bookcases but you should consider this if you plan to move house as you will need to remove the nails again unless you have very wide hallways! In our flat we will definitely have to disassemble the bookcases to get them down the stairs.

The shelf height is easy to set, however if you need to take the pegs back out you will need a pair of plyers as they sit in very tightly.

Everyone who comes into our flat comments on how great the bookcases look - and we have now invested in a third one which sits next to the others with a CD case either side of the middle case.

We love our Billy book cases and will look to get some more of the smaller ones to furnish the rest of the flat as we phase out some of our older ones!

I would definitely recommend these to anyone, whether you have only a small amount of money to spend on your furniture or a lot. They come in a range of colours and with plenty of other items to match.
