As part of a revamp for our flat, my husband and I did big Ikea trip. That shop is amazing! I always come away with so many other ideas it can be quite dangerous! Last time we went we brought a breakfast bar, and 2 Franklin Bar Stools so we can eat in the kitchen area and not have to use our big dining room table.

The stools come in three colours, birch (natural wood colour), brown / black and white. We went for the birch option as it matched the breakfast bar. It also comes in two seat heights, 63cm or 74cm - we went for the 63cm option. It was easy to carry and transport .The stool comes ready to use, except the foot rest which just needs screwing in to place. Neither of us are technical people and usually end up in an argument when assembling furniture, but we both managed this no problem! Each leg has a plastic bit on the bottom to avoid scratching floors when pushing the stool around.

The total height when folded up is about 1m. To use, the seat is just pushed down where it is secured on two plastics clips on the base - it is imperative to ensure that this fastens correctly, or you may get tipped off the stool! It is comfortable to sit on and the foot rest adds to the comfort. The seat is slippery so you would not be able to put a cushion on to it as it would slide off. To store them away, the seat is moved up again and the chair is folded. We have ours up permanently so don't have to worry about this but there is no secure way to hold the chair together when it is folded.

Overall they have been a fantastic buy. We use these stools almost every day, and think they are great. There are more expensive ones out there but for £19.99 each (now increased to £23) I have found these a reasonable priced, easy to assemble and comfortable chair which is perfect for our needs. These chairs are only available at Ikea.
