Advantages: Easy planning tool

I recently bought my Ikea kitchen and have been delighted with the whole process.

You can design your kitchen by downloading the ikea home planner tool from their website. This is very easy to use and allows you to design you dream kitchen by putting each cabinet into a digital room of the size of the kithchen. This can be viewed in 2d plan or 3d, and really gives an accurate idea of what your new kitchen will look like.

The tool also tots up the total cost of the kitchen, so it is easy to stay within budget. The overall cost of the kitchen was less than i had been quoted in rival shops, so value is very good. You can choose from a wide variety ofdifferent door style for your cabinets which give enough options to suit all tastes and budgets. Matching side panels for the cabinets can also be bought.

After ordering my kitchen on line I was given a provisional delivery date. However when the date was confirmed it had been put back a week. After speaking to someone in ikea it appears that deliveries can only be made on one day of the week (thursday from the Cardiff store) as they share their delivery vans with other companies. For people who have commitments on a particular day of the week i could see this being a problem.

The kithcen was delivered on the day they said without any problems. I was telephoned an hour before it arrived to make sure I could get home.

The cabinets are of solid construction and I am very impressed with their build quality. All doors and drawers can be fitted with a 'soft close' mechanism, which slows the rate the door is closing and finnishes closing slowly, which stops bangs on closing.

I have been very impressed with my Ikea kitchen, and it is only because of the potentail problems with delivery that stops it from getting a dooyoo rating of 5 stars.

However given the potentail delivery problems I give this a dooyoo rating of 4 stars.
