Ikea Ludde Sheepskin Rug
Advantages: Soft and comfortable under feet
Disadvantages: Slips and needs brushed to keep it looking good
Pretty much my entire bedroom is furnished by Ikea. I know it isn't very original but I do love the variety in Ikea and of course the price is really reasonable too so I knew when I went that I could get almost everything that I needed without breaking the bank.
Something that wasn't on my list but I came home with anyway was a sheepskin rug. Now I went to Ikea with no intention of buying any rug and I certainly never thought that if I did get a rug it would be a sheepskin one but when I saw them and more importantly felt them I wanted one and as they were only £30 I decided that my bedroom needed one.
It is probably more suited to in front of a fireplace but I actually like it next to my bed and as I have wooden floors I have it right next to the bed so it is the first thing that my feet touch when I get out of bed and not the cold floor. I also have some slippers next to the rug so if it is cold I never actually have to touch the cold floor at all.
The rug isn't very large and it is just under a metre in length and just over half a metre at its widest point. The pile of the rug is fairly deep and soft and it feels very comfortable and cosy underfoot. The rug can start to look a bit matted when it has been down for a while and I have found myself brushing it with a dog brush to get it looking back to its best and this actually works quite well as making it look less matted.
It is also quite hardwearing but I make sure and not wear outside shoes on it as I don't want the hassle of having to clean it properly. I had to wash it once and I did it by hand like was recommended but it looked awful when it had dried and it took me ages with the brush to get it looking good again. As well as being able to hand wash it you can also dry clean it but if hand washing it you aren't supposed to put it in the tumble drier.
As long as you make sure and give it a brush occasionally it will look good for ages. I've had mine a while now and it is still looking good and is still lovely and soft and I really love the feel of it under my feet. I would actually consider getting another one if it came in a different colour but it is only available in white or grey at the minute.
One thing I would definitely recommend is getting some anti-slip underlay if you are planning on putting it on wooden floors as it will and does slip about a lot otherwise and you will spend a lot of time rearranging it every time you step on it.
This is such a soft and comfortable rug. The look of it might not suit everyone but I didn't think I would like it either but now I love it even with the hassle of having to brush it occasionally just to keep it fluffy and looking good. For £30 it is well worth the money as other sheep skin rugs I have seen in other shops have costs much more than this and they don't seem to be any better quality than this one.
Summary: A soft and cosy rug
