All round a good buy if youre willing to spend some time to erect it

      The IKEA MÖRRUM Loft bed
This is solid construction high sleeper bed that is much cheaper than some makes and therefore good value for money in my opinion.
The frame colour is black and white which is great for a Newcastle supporter but its easy to paint the bed a different colour such as Barbie pink for a girl!
There is lots of space under the bed for storing things,or putting a desk, seating, play tent, toy storage or an entertainment area, complete with television, DVD player, and video game system.
The bed has a slatted base but you need to buy the mattress which should be under 21 cm thick. Ikea's mattresses fit well and are very comfortable.
Its advisable not to screw hooks, handles etc. onto the bed or hang things on where there are young children.
The bunk is recommended for children over 7 years. I bought this for my grown up daughter but found my grandchildren wanted to try it out. They were 5 6 and 8 years old. the ladder is awkward and quite 'thin' to stand on also the step is deep . The ladder mounts on the right or the left side of the bed. After watching them carefully I thought it was safer to ban them from using til they are older as it was too scary.
The bed is easy to clean just wipe clean with a cloth damped in a mild cleaner.
It's made of solid birch, particleboard, foil and ABS plastic and the bed base slats are solid pine

      Things to consider are:
Changing the sheets is a task but it's easier to take off the mattress to do this and use fitted sheets and a duvet or throw, but if you have a younger child who is feeling sick you'll need to put them in another bed as access is not easy to clean up when you tired and they aren't well.
Putting it together was a real task. You need plenty of room and two people. It took two of us two days and a lot of patience. We had a 10 foot by 12 foot room with a large cupboard in the corner which restricted space to lay out the longer lengths of wood so we had the clear the whole room of furniture. We have a modern house and when we were near the end stage and placing the bed upright we realised it was too close to the ceiling and only a three year old could sit upright it. Our ceiling was 10foot high. We painstakingly measured the four corners and the bunk ladder and sawed them to fit. If it hadn't worked and been uneven it would have been a costly mistake. However the strong birch wood frame is stable and the bed does not rock or move or creak. It's in the room to stay and wont be coming down again! So don't buy one if ceiling height is 10ft unless your'e prepared for some extra work. having said that it's good value solid bed which has given us lots of extra floor space and beats some of it's rivals in cost.
