At the last bank holiday, we decided that we wanted a bigger set of drawers for my daughter bedroom so we went to Ikea. As always, as well as a new set of drawers, I ended up coming a away with a few bits and bobs that I didn''t really have any intention of buying before I went, this being one of them.
The hanger is available in three different colours, baby blue, pink and green, to match the colours in Laurens bedroom, I chose the pink version. It measures around 168cm in length and 29cm depth, it is made up of 6 different compartments which around 25cm in height to you can actually fit quite a lot in, the holes to access are small enough to keep things in secure but big enough to put the larger items such as teddy bears in. At the top of the hanger as a small Velcro loop which allows you to hang where you want, I choose to hang ours in Laurens built in wardrobe to try and keep things a little tidier.
Lauren has lots of figurines and small animals which when she isn''t playing with get dropped in her toy boxes, the problem with this is that the smaller things end up falling to the bottom and then forgotten about. This is ideal for putting her smaller things in and the benefit is that she can easily see whereabouts they are when she want something as the hanger is made from quite thick netting. I like the fact that the hanger is attached using a Velcro loop as this means that the item is portable but also if she tries climbs up it, it will fall down before she tries and not end up with an injury. In my opinion, this can have numerous uses, not just as a toy storage, I am actually thinking of buying another one the next time we go to keep all my toiletries and hair products in (having curly hair means I have lots) and hanging it in my wardrobe too. But I could also see this to clothes (such as socks, pants etc), bathroom products, maybe even cleaning products.
The item is exclusive to Ikea and is available online and in store, Ikea does have a stock checking facility which I like because if I have a specific item in mind (this wasn''t one of them), I can check its availability before I have a drive down. The item retails for 3 pounds which I think is quite a good bargain, especially when compared to similar ones on the market. a
I quite like the product and for the price, I think it is a great purchase. I would recommend and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
We purchased one of these in lime green for my daughter to hang in her wardrobe to keep smaller items stored - hats, gloves, tights, and smaller toys. There were three colours available, pink, the blue pictured above, and the light green which seemed the most neutral of the colours, and the most likely to remain appealing to her as she gets older (she's getting to the age where she is starting to tire of pinl).
This cost £3, and when we purchased it came pressed flat - it's essentially netting, with wire hoops inside at regular intervals, and each compartment being separated by a mesh floor. Eash compartment has a hole to allow putting stuff in, and rather than run in a straight line down the front of he Fangst storage, they seem to be at different random intervals around the hanging tube, going round it in a sort of spiral. There is a hanging loop at the top that could be hung from a hook, or, as in our case, slipped over a wardrobe hanging rail at the point of assembly to become part of the furniture. It is extremely light, and of course can be collapsed when not needed, so when empty needn't occupy much space at all.
The six compartments are ideal for storing small items - my daughter actually can't reach the top one easily at the moment but can easily reach the rest, and using them for storing her hats, gloves, scarves and thick winter tights. She also uses them to store her smaller cuddly toys to stop them being all over the floor. It seems fairly sturdy - certainly the hanging loop shows no signs of straining, and it has coped with being overstuffed when my daughter 'cheats' when tidying her room. The mesh does appear to have a few minor frays in it, but I don't think this is down to the product itself as much as it is to my cat being absolutely fascinated with sharpening his claws on it. He's figured out it moves when he hits it too, so it's providing value for money as a cat toy as well as a storage solution.
At £3, I do think this is a nifty item of storage - I am thinking of getting another for the bathroom, as it seems ideal for storing bath toys and scrubbers over the baths whilst allowing them to drop dry. At 168cm long, it is rather two long for this purpose, but I intend sewing the first three compartments together so they don't open to shorten it.
I recommend this - cheap, practical, light, portable, and takes up hardly any space when not in use. My only criticism is I would like more colour choice - the vibrant colours are great for young kids bedrooms, and ok for bathrooms, but I wouldn't have minded a smart black option for inside my own wardrobe. 4 stars!
Our little nephew normally stays over with us once or twice a week, and he is always leaving various soft toys and other bits and bats at our house until next time. I'm a bit of neat and tidy freak and so I'm always tidying them away, and then he gets a bit upset when he can't instantly see everything out and ready for him next time he comes.
My sister has one of these Ikea PS Fangst hanging storage nets already in my nephews bedroom, and he always tidies away his own soft toys into this at home. They are only £2.99 from Ikea and so I decided to get one to put up at our house as well, to encourage him to do the same at our house.
The PS Fangst hanging storage net comes in 3 colours; blue, pink and green. We bought the blue. And as I mentioned it's just £2.99. It has 6 storage compartments, and each storage compartment has a small circular hole in, to put things in or take them out. The hole is quite a small hole, and as such some of his bigger soft toys don't really fit through that well. Another slight gripe that I have with this is that all of the holes are not actually lined up in a row, they are all at different positions on the net, and so depending where you position this then some of the holes may well be facing the wall.
It hangs from the ceiling, and you just need to put a hook in the ceiling to enable you to hang it. The hanging net then has a loop that you just hang on to your ceiling hook, the loop fastens with a velcro fastener so basically if you fill the hanging net too full then the velcro will open, likewise if your little one decides to use the net as a climbing frame then again the velcro will open. Once hung, the hanging net is 1.7metres long, and each compartment is a fairly substantial size.
We've hung ours in the corner in the box room, where our nephew sleeps over. Ours is always fairly full, he has various soft toys in there, plus small cars and figures and helicopters etc, I also tend to pop his clothes for the weekend in there too, so a few changes of clothes. I use the higher compartments for his clothes as he can't reach those to put his toys in anyway, and he always puts his own toys away now in the lower compartments.
It's not the nicest looking storage in the world, but it is kinda funky, it is really just cheap and cheerful I guess, however it works for now for us, and it was only £2.99, plus a ceiling hook from B&Q!
I think this is a must have item for any child's bedroom.
I have this in blue for my son but it also comes in green and pink and the best part about it is the price. At only £3.05 this is an absolute bargain.
It is a soft net that can be hung from the ceiling or like me I have hung mine from the curtain pole in my son's room. The net has 6 compartments and there is a hole in each section for you to get your items in and out of. This has been one of the best things I have bought for my son's room. His is now filled with teddies and toys which were just taking up far too much space beforehand. This item is such a space save and can be used to store lots of different items. The net is soft but also sturdy and holds the items well but because you can see into it I find it easy to pick out the items I want to get out of it without having to look through it for ages.
It is also easy for kids to get their toys out of it and makes tidying the toys away quick and easy.
One of the great things about it is the size of it. It is a nice column that would fit easily into corners and tight spaces and is a great way to store things in a stylish and funky way. It looks so much fun for a kids room and they are bright and colourful.
I would definately recommend this to all my friends. I just wouldn't be without it.
While shopping in Ikea for household furniture items, we spotted this Ikea PS Fangst hanging toy storage net in the kids section and just had to get it for the grandson's duck collection. He has hundreds of the darn cuddly things, and many end up scattered around his bedroom floor! For only £3.05, we snapped up one of these hanging storage solutions to put said ducks in and get them off the floor.
You can get one of these nets in a choice of green, pink or blue, and they come as a standard size. They're all 168cm tall and 29cm wide, with six compartments each. They have a velcro tab at the top which needs to be hung from the ceiling on a hook (not included). We hung our net up using a cup holder that cost about 10p from a Wickes multipack which was already kicking around in my tool box.
This was really easy to mount, I just screwed my hook into the ceiling in the grandson's room - and hung this up. That was it! No assembly was required, the items comes 'flat packed' but the net material simply needs pulling apart when you open the packet, there is nothing else to do besides hang it up.
I was a bit dubious about how much weight this would hold at first, and what yours can hold will depend on how strong the hook fixing in your ceiling is I guess. With our little screwed in hook, we have so far not had a problem with storing soft toys in here. If you want to use this for clothes or heavier toys, you'll probably need to think about using a more appropriate hook (check your local DIY store for options).
For every day use, this has been handy but I do definitely have one or two issues with it. For starters, the holes in each storage compartment are quite slim, and we can only get small soft toys into these. The net material will stretch a little, but this is only good for small toys mostly. Also, they've located the various compartment holes in all different locations. This would have been much easier if they'd put the holes all down one side so you didn't have to turn it around (and risk unscrewing it from the ceiling!) every time you want to get something in or out.
So far this has been really reliable for us. The screw has stayed put, and the storage compartments have retained their shape fairly well even with the contents weight dragging the whole thing down a little. I would have preferred it if the holes were slightly bigger (perhaps mounted higher up in each compartment so the toys don't just fall out!) and I don't like the random locations of these holes, but other than that, I'm fairly pleased with this. For just over £3, I have to give it four stars I think. You're not going to get a much cheaper soft toy storage solution for your kids bedroom are you?!
