An interesting method of illumination. (Lava Lamps)

Advantages: Look Cool.

Disadvantages: Waste a lot of heat, take ages to warm up.

I was given a lava lamp as a gift about a year ago, so my experiences here will be based on my experiences with this one lava lamp. I appreciate that there is a fair amount of variation in the styles and designs of Lava Lamps, but I hope they are all similar enough that my review is still relevant.

When they are in full heat and the lava is moving around, they do look pretty damn funky and make a really interesting feature in a room. On this point though and into a more negative avenue, mine takes absoloutely ages to heat up and start going! Like literally an hour probably and they get so hot, they must waste a heck of a lot of energy.

Another thing to remember, is that you are only meant to leave them running for a maximum of eight hours in a row, which means if you want the lava lamp to be a regular feature, you have to keep waiting the insanely large amount of time for it to heat up and get going.

Whilst I suppose the heat wasted is a pain in terms of energy cost, they do actually second up as good little room heaters, especially in smaller bedrooms, so it's not all bad.

My Lava lamp is green, and I would highly recommend this colour! Very striking and looks really great.

Summary: Heck why not get one, they are Cool enough!
