Advantages: Quite decorative if they aren't red!

Disadvantages: Red ones are revolting

Lava lamps feature huge globs of oil that slowly ooze their way up and down the glass lamp base. These were popular in the late 60's and early 70's and were usually made of copper.

These lamps can look nice in a room depending on where they are placed. They can be very distracting if sited near a television or pc.

The blue or green, or even the yellow ones are okay if they suit the decor but the red ones are quite revolting. They look like huge clots of blood oozing around inside a lamp base. Think about it next time you see one!
