What can I say. My wife and I bought a large triple wardrobe for our spare room. It took ages to put up and by the time we had finished the third attempt, as the instructions were very vague, there was very little structural integrity left in the mass of wood effect chipboard that we wanted to hold our clothing.

The wardrobe now has proper wood keeping it together in all the important places, and when the time comes for us to move, I dare say that the 'wardrobe' will be a fixture and fitting.

My late father used to call MFI suppository furniture (he was a carpenter by the way)- by this he meant that 'you put it up yourself'.

Funny, I can think of other reasons to call it that.
