... after the installation date. Fitter 2 days into job, discarded old hob and washing machine, so no cooking or clean clothes on the cards. Asked for refund to buy seperately and guess what, no refund because the hob was part of the special free appliances offer. I vowed 20 years ago never to use MFI again, but I thought they had changed and it was a good offer, but beware!. Chose BOSCH and AEG appliances, then a week later they have stopped using them at MFI, so accepted "own brand" appliances. The MFI fitter...more

In May this year (2007) my wife and I visited the MFI store in Leamington Spa to look for a new kitchen. We'd been to a number of other stores and had yet to see a kitchen that we both liked. After a good browse around the store we finally agreed that we both liked a kitchen called the 'Callisto'. We'd already taken the measurements for our kitchen so we sat down with one of their nice sales chaps who took our measurements, fed them into the computer and eventually came up with a design for our new kitchen. He gave us some advice on which options we could and could not have and all in all it took just over 2 hours to get everything we wanted in the design including the ...  Read the complete review

Having saved for a long time, not easy with four children, and deciding our children were now of an age to appreciate new items of furniture were not toys and should be treated with care,we decide to buy a new bed and a new kitchen. We spoke to all the usual suspects in the British retail market for these items and eventually did a deal with MFI. ,arranged dates of delivery and awaited our goods.Expecting a new £700 bed we received a footboard and a bag of wooden slats. On phoning customer "services" i was told" we can`t deliver the rest for another seven weeks, were`nt you told" The following week we ,less than eagerly, awaited delivery of our new ...  Read the complete review

So I am not alone in experiencing deplorable service from MFI?. Having ordered and payed for a £3500 kitchen in November and actually asking them to deliver it 2 weeks AFTER their proposed delivery date I got a phone call the day before to say they had experienced 'Manufacturing difficulties' and only sent 1/2 of the items ordered. In this delivery there wasn't even enough to complete a partial fix. The second delivery was agreed and a discount negotiated for the inconvenience. This date came and went with no sign of the units, it was only after several calls to the customer service department that the remaining items arrived another week later............ Guess ...  Read the complete review

My name is Grace and I live in the US - wow, to read all of the poor reviews of MFI really breaks my heart. I was employed by Howdens Millwork which was a sibling company of MFI and these reviews, these horror stories of poor at best customer service just sadden me. Howdens was actually dissolved and pulled from the US but let me assure you, we LOVED our jobs and our customers. We did a free luncheon every Friday for our contractors and we welcomed them to also bring their homeowners to join us. If there was ever ANY problem from a scratched cabinet pull to a warped cabinet box, we would fix it ourselves if necessary and I mean, our assistant manager who weighed 95 lbs. ...  Read the complete review

MFI Kitchen Furniture: cheap and cheerful (146 words)

Dont buy a mfi kitchen. I paid £3000.00 2 yrs ago in addition they wanted £1600 to fit it. A short time later they offered the same fitted for the price they wanted for fitting, i.e £1600 (complete and fitted)which is really rubbing salt in the wound. There were a variety of small corner pieces for fitting between cupboards or floor unit when you turn corners. The plan did not identify which of the various sizes to fit. so a lot of suck it and see was involved when you used the wrong parts and had to remove all of your work. On top of which there were parts missing. I must accept some blame here for I did not fit the units straightaway. and even ...  Read the complete review
