Minky Ironing Board Cover
Advantages: looks good
Disadvantages: shows the stains
My Minky Ironing board and cover were starting to look burnt and worn in places and it was hampering my ironing performance. I hate ironing at the best of times so I hated it even more when the uneven surface made the ironing take longer. I wanted to replace the Minky board cover with one by the same brand as I was unsure if ironing boards were standard size. I rather like the designs that minky use and they are averagely priced too.
==Price and availability==
This ironing board cover costs £5.50 and can be bought from online stores such as Very.co.uk or regular stores such as Wilkinson.
The ironing board cover will fit a board that measures up to 125cms x 45cms. It has elasticised sides that allow it to fit different sizes. The cover is easy to fit and just needs to be fed around the edge and pulled tight until there are no creases. The pattern on the front is floral and pretty. It has big blue flowers on a white background. The overall quality of the cover is good and it feels quite thick and cushioned. It is made from a combination of polyester and cotton.
I am quite happy with this one and I hope it lasts as long as the last one did which was three years before having to replace it. It is worthwhile getting a good quality one that will last as the quality of the cover does impact on your ironing. When I was using the old cover that had rips in and big brown burn stains; it was hard to find a section to iron on as if you laid your item over the ripped fabric it often ended up with a crease where you didn't want it and it would take ages. A good pristine board is helpful too because the iron seems to glide easier.
When ironing on the ironing board, the cover seems to steam and hold on to the heat. This means that I do not have to give as much attention to ironing on the other side of the item as the fabrics are already relaxed from the steam.
So far there are no burn marks but there are water marks from when I have squirted clothing with the iron. This looks a bit scruffy and perhaps with hindsight it would have been better if I had picked a cover that was patterned all over instead of just in certain places.
I would definitely recommend the covers from this brand. I like the way you can personalise your ironing board and choose from different designs. I also like the quality and especially like how thick the cover it. This will ensure it lasts a long time and also act as a good platform to iron on as the fabric gets warm and holds on to heat.
