Hi I would like to share my lucky escape from Moben Kitchens. We had a designer out last week and after a 3 hour plus ordeal we finally got the guy out of our house. He started out at £18,000 and finally got us down to £11,000. Brilliant £7,000 discount in 30 mins!!!! Eventually we told him we would think about it and he left. Few days later we hear that they have gone into administration. So glad we didnt commit. We have found our kitchen by accident through dooyoo from a company called mls kitchens. Lots cheaper for better quality stuff. think they are based in manchester. worth having a look at.
Well I am very happy with my Moben kitchen, & would say I am a hard person to please, I had a problem with the first salesman they sent me but after complaining was sent someone else, & it has been problem free since then. I now have a beautiful new kitchen with granite worktops which I love.Any problem I had was sorted out straight away & the whole experience was stress free. The kitchen arrived on time was fitted on time by two fitters who cerainally knew their job & I am very pleased with it. I can honestly say I was treated fairly from start to finish. You of course negociate the price, but we did reach an agreement. I am really pleased & would certainally use them again.
I agree with most people who have posted here, Moben are dire and should not be touched under any circumstances. We ordered a kitchen in excess of £28,000; the salesman mis-sold items, the initial delivery was incomplete, the fitter barely managed to do a complete week's work, and we waited weeks for the missing items. We are now in possession of 3 undermount sinks, and any number of units and doors that have been ordered/supplied wrongly, and which Moben won't collect. We eventually referred this to the Furniture Ombudsman (who it would seem aren't a lot better than Moben) as a kitchen that was supposed to take "one to two weeks" to fit, took more than 4 months. Moben it would seem have applied to the court to go into administration, so don't expect any refunds/compensation from them. No doubt they'll be up and running under a slightly different name inside 6 months....
Delivery was on the day and at the time specified. However, the fitters didn't turn up the following week as indicated in the delivery papers. When I rang Moben customer service to ask why, they said I'd been called on my mobile to tell me that this had been arranged for the following week. I certainly hadn't taken a call from them, but found a 'no number' recorded. When I rang Moben to question this, they said that it's 'company policy' not to reveal their customer service number when they ring (!) and they don't back up messages to mobiles with a call to the customer's land line. This is not customer-friendly and I've suggested that they review this policy. Having said that, the fitters did an excellent job when they did arrive and we're very pleased with the end result.
We read these bad reviews after we had paid our deposit so, naturally we were very concerned. We need not have worried. I cannot fault the service from designer, surveyor, office staff, logistics, delivery men, and of course the fitter. I was kept informed all along the way of what was to happen and when and it all went as planned and on time. I am now in culinery heaven as my kitchen is better than I expected and of the quality I expected for the money we paid. It was all fitted and ready to go within 4 days by a fitter who went above and beyond to ensure we were completely happy and he also did some jobs which were not on his joblist. My only issue was one cupboard door arrived in the wrong colour but this waspicked up on and new one arrived on day 3. Remember all these bad reviews are probably a very small percentage of kitchens fitted. My advice is GO AHEAD!
Non-existent service!!! please, stay away from Moben if you respect your time and your hard earned money. The worst experience I ever had in UK (have been living here for 12 years!). Our fitting date was 15 Nov 2010, well we are still waiting for our kitchen to be complete! Unhelpful, unfriendly customer service representatives, so as project coordinator (lost count how many of them we had, all of them just useless). So frustrating and upsetting, as there is no much you can do once you signed up. They even do not deserve 1 star!
The salesman was a very nice man and did a very good job of selling the kitchen. The technical person was ok, bit flash.Delivery men were great.Fitters arrived when expected and although unfriendly seemed ok.Few problems with missing items, incorrect door delivered, upstand missing. Then the problems really start. Customer service from our "project co-ordinator" is non-existent. The lady looking after our project was completely useless and did not offer any form of co-ordination at all. She is in the wrong job completely. We are fighting to get the fitters to come back and complete several things still undone and so far no joy from anyone.Wish we had taken heed of the reviews and never ordered the kitchen. Worst experience ever.Don't do it.
The Moben salesman that came around to ours was a complete slime. He waffled on for ages and pretended to be all friendly but then at the end when we said that we weren't interested in the kitchen he turned into a complete b*satrd saying that we shouldn't have wasted his time and telling us not to come back to Moben. So much for the free no obligation visit.I implore anyone looking for a kitchen not to choose Moben. I originally thought all these bad reviews were exaggerated but they are spot on.Stay Away!
Moben Kitchen Design - Don't do it. I have tried to cut this short but our issues deserve a proper airing . We were promised that our kitchen would be completed in 5 days plus another 2 for tiling. It took 17 weeks !! The so called designer (or should this be salesman?) ignored our requirements and designed what he wanted. We needed a 900mm wide breakfast bar to accommodate 4 people. He left us with a 620mm top that was a tight squeeze for two!! We complained but Moben didn't want to know. I eventually managed to buy a 900mm bar from Moben at a cost of £348 which I was told included fitting but was later forced to pay a further £150 for fitting. One of the cabinet runs was so long that it left only a 570mm gap to access the back door. Called Moben and got a technical manager round who agreed to change the run of cabinets. The run was shortened by removing 800mm base and wall units and replacing them 600mm units with a loss of storage that we had paid for. We complained but Moben didn't want to know. We ordered a display cabinet which was provided with solid doors !! It was 6 weeks before we received the glass doors and another 11 weeks before they were fitted. We ordered stone wall tiles and had Moben fit them. On completion we discovered that we had been supplied, and paid for, 50% more tiles than required. We complained and guess what? They didn't want to know. We were persuaded to have gloss finish worktops. Big mistake. They are very easily scratched despite Moben's assurance that they are hard wearing and scratch resistant. They also show every finger mark. Go for matt finish for two reasons. Marks will not show as much and they are readily available from any kitchen showroom. The gloss finish we chose is exclusive to Moben which means they can charge what they want. Do not believe a word about the so called dedicated project manager. They are nothing more than call centre reps and are almost impossible to pin down. I often had to wait 3 days before I received any response to a query and in one instance waited 3 weeks. We threatened court proceedings and guess what? Moben didn't want to know - at first. After many letters we were offered a more realistic settlement but Moben tried to include a gagging order. Guess what? This time we didn't want to know. We eventually settled out of court with the gagging order removed. We got back all our additional costs plus an acceptable amount as compensation for the delays and loss of space etc. The only good thing we can say is that the fitters, plasterer and tiler all did a really good job, and guess what? None of them are Moben employees. They are all contractors. Are they liars or do they just not care? I'll leave others to decide but do yourself a favour. Go somewhere else for your kitchen and save both money and your sanity. We were taken in by what we saw at the showroom and didn't do any research. Don't make the same mistake.
I deeply regret having ever ordered a Moben kitchen..they make promises they don't keep..on every level the service is shocking..once they have your money, they stop carering..my kitchen was ordered 10 months ago..I am still waiting for one of their 'standard' units to be delivered...and the list goes on... just felt it my duty to warn you off.It may look good and the kitchen may be of sound quality...that has yet to be decided. The fitter himself was charming when he was available...Moben seem to be forever playing 'catch up' with delayed projects so they do a bit of the work, then go away leaving you with a half finished job..and if you try to speak with your 'co-ordinator' they are always in a meeting or away from their desk...maybe I'm just unlucky..but nevertheless I remain disenchanted
Moben Kitchen designers are nothing more than ex-double glazing salesmen. We had a designer around yesterday who was insulting and patronising, failed to listen to what we wanted and then argued that he doesn't like something so we shouldn't have it.He spent the entire time telling me that we had a small kitchen and then after 30 minutes gave me a 13K quote claiming we had a decent size kitchen.Insisted that the £1500 free appliances and half price kitchen is for that day only, even though it doesn't state that on the web.Swiftly shown the door.....
I had already ordered my Moben kitchen before reading some of the poor reviews. I can confirm that we were misled about having to pay all the money up front before the work was started, and I lost some nights sleep worrying about that! However, everything went like clockwork... the order delivered professionally on time, the project manager kept us informed e.g. when the fitter would arrive/ enquired if we were satisfied. We were really lucky to get an excellent joiner, and the kitchen; worktop; belfast sink and range cooker were all fitted by the 3rd day. We've just finished the kitchen fully, doing the tiling and flooring ourselves. It is just what we wanted, but it should be as we paid nearly £13K for it.
For a £15,000 kitchen you would not expect an organisation to sub-sub-sub contract so that you get workers who, amongst other things: drilled through and ruined a new damp course; installed wrong kitchen island (ruining a newly tiled floor in the process; drilled into mains water pipes, causing flooding; removed old kitchen, but dumped it on street, incurring a fine from local council; installed wrong cupboards; what should be solid wood is chipboard which is not even very well covered. This awful, costly process went on for months, and their after sales care is dreadful - once they have your signature, they don't give a damn. To be without a kitchen is obviously very awkward and inconvenient, and because of Moben's various mistakes, we were without one for about 4 months.
I just hope that I can relay this message to as many people as possible. In my opinion, you should NOT touch Moben or their associate companies with any form of bargepole. I have just experienced several years of frustration with one of thier 'fully fitted' kitchens. It cost me in excess of £10,000 and a great deal of heartache. The ultimate solution for me was to take them to county court and it took the judge 40 mins to assess the case and then awarded me a substantial sum. Moben attempted to defend the case by stating that the problems were not with their products but with "the environment of my kitchen". It seems that this "environment" did not deter Moben in fitting the kitchen units in the first place. They were only too pleased to take the whole £10,000 before the units were even delivered! I believe that previous complimentary comments must be treated as suspect. Before involving yourself with this company - at least look at the 20 plus web sites full of complaints!
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING COMPANY, WOULD ADVISE ANYONE TO STAY WELL CLEAR. THEY GET ALL YOUR MONEY UPFRONT AND COULD NOT GIVE A DAMN. ONLY WHEN MY HUSBAND THREATENED TO TAKE THE KITCHEN OUT AND DROP IT ON THE FORECOURT OF OUR LOCAL BRANCH, DID THEY RESPOND TO OUR CALLS. HAD TO PUT ONE STAR IN OR IT WOULD NOT ACCEPT MY REVIEW. YOU SHOULD PUT A MINUS SECTION IN. ANYONE WHO HAS SAID ANY DIFFERENT THAS BEEN THE LUCKY ONE OR HAS SHARES IN THE COMPANY.
