Advantages: Good quality product

Disadvantages: Vagueness in costing and forced changes made after intial order

Reading the bad reviews on this site about Moben kitchens I certainly recognise from my own experiences some aspects of the complaints made here. For instance the costings they give are extremely vague, we did get a 'free' dishwasher but I am firmly of the opinion that you never get anything for nothing and end up paying for it somewhere else along the line.

At the initial consultation with the salesman he made us a plan with which we were very pleased. We chose a granite sink and taps and 'magic' corners that we really liked. When the surveyor arrived a few days later we were told we could not have the sink or taps we wanted as we did not have sufficient height at the window sill and it could not be made to fit. I would have thought the salesman could have told us this, he wielded a tape measure all the time during his visit! In the end we had to settle for a more mundane stainless steel sink and taps. The surveyor also thought we might have problems getting the 'magic' corners into our kitchen. I was rather put out by this and the surveyor did a few calculations and eventually said it would be possible to fit them.

I have to say at the end of it all we have a kitchen that we are very satisfied with. The fitters were very quick and efficient, they also pointed out a small defect on one of the cupboard doors - I could not see anything wrong with it until he showed it to me. A new one was ordered and fitted within a couple of weeks. We also had a shortfall in the tiles which required another delivery and second visit from the tiler.

From ordering to the finished product was little over 7 weeks, this would have been shorter if it had not been for the problem with the door and tiles. It is a smart well fitted, good quality product we love the 'magic' corner units, the smooth closing drawers and cupboard doors that don't slam when closed. I did wonder at one stage in the process whether Moben sell you one kitchen at an agreed price and then try to bring down the cost to them by saying you can't have certain parts of the one you ordered, but perhaps I am being a little unfair there. Despite the changes (sink) made to our initial order the price did not change, I could have argued for a reduction I suppose but the difference in price of the sink was such a small percentage of the overall that cost I didn't see much point.

Summary: Be clear from outset, that what you ordered can be fitted into your kitchen.

You did not actually explain what 'magic corners' are.

We had similar problems with changes being made from the original design but in the end the results were good and I'm very happy with the kitchen a year on.
