Disadvantages: Terrible Customer Service, Poor Product, Bully Boys

I regret the day I ever stepped inside the Moben showroom in Bournemouth.

The pre-sales service was very good. However alarm bells should have rung when they told us that we had to pay up front before any work had been carried out. This is a very canny move on Moben's part as it leaves the customer with little negotiation power when things go wrong.

Our kitchen installation began in the first week of January 2002 and it took 6 months for it to be finally finished to our satisfaction (and that was mainly because we couldn't be bothered to battle with them any longer).

Some of the problems we experienced were:-
-fitters not turning up on agreed days
-never having the same fitter twice
-moben not sending the correct type of fitter
-the surveyor not measuring properly so that the kitchen could not be installed as planned
-Poor quality fittings - the sink was so flimsy the whole thing flexed when we turned the tap
-electrics not working
-worktops that were damaged
-panels not fitting correctly
-appliances not plumbed in correctly

Trying to sort out these problems was a nightmare. Each time we had to phone Moben's head office which I believe is in Manchester and is a long-distance call. When you get through you are either kept waiting for ages or told that they will ring back, which they NEVER EVER do. The staff are extremely rude and on several occasions I was left speechless at their attitude. On one occasion the girl hung up on me! I was also told "if you've got a problem call Citizen's Advice".

If I ever have a new kitchen again I will definitely use a local firm where I can go in and talk any problems through with them face to face. My advice - don't touch Moben with a barge pole.

Sounds horrible 6 months and you're still not happy! You should write to the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) or Watchdog and let them know of the problems you've had.

Paying up front sounds a bit dodgy too!

A good first opinion and welcome to dooyoo. I have heard this sorry tale about Moben before on a consumer tv programme.
