Advantages: Can't think of any
Disadvantages: Too many to list
Buying a kitchen through Moben has been one of the most exasperating and expensive wastes of time i've ever known. And I've bought a bathroom from MFI so I know incompetence when I see it. From the start (five months ago, kitchen still not finished) they've been fairly pleasant but completely unable to keep a track of their organisation. Two fitters turned up and did the job in two and a half days with predictable results (how they can allow this amount of time is beyond me. It takes that long to unpack the bits). Hob was wonky, hob leaked gas, sink leaked, all cupboard doors were chipped or not hung straight, wrong cupboard was installed, shelves weren't installed properly, worksurfaces were an inch away from the wall at the back and there was glue all round the sink joint. They left boxes all over the law for a week and kept delivering the wrong bits. They left bare wires hanging out of the wall behind the fridge ('cause we were bound not to notice!) and the waste disposal had stopped working. The best bit was when the men who'd come to take out the old kitchen nicked the plugs off our washing machine and dryer (which we were keeping) so the fitters had to to to B&Q and buy some more. Given that we spent what I think is far too much (around 9 grand) the things that make the kitchen look good (stainless steel splashbacks, stainless steel plug points, new floor) we did ourselves. They've now made five appointments to come and fix the last bits of the job and five times have let us down. Hanging around waiting for fitters is my least favourite way of spending time especially as they won't give you their mobile numbers in case you ring them in the middle of the night and abuse them, presumably. What really bugs me is that they obviously don't have the fitters to do the jobs properly and yet they are still running a huge advertising campaign to encourage more people to come and buy ki
tchens which they won't have the capacity to install.

- 28/06/04 Due to several problems a friend of mine had with this company we didn't even bother looking to see what was on offer when we had our new kitchen. Looks like it was the right decision. |
