Advantages: Easy to build, keeps toys away tidily, looks good and is very sturdy
Disadvantages: a little expensive, but it is worth every penny
When Lily-May went into her own room a few months ago, I decided to make it a room she would be happy to play in. I know how much she loves Peppa Pig, and so I wanted to theme her room on it. I wanted a good toy storage solution, as all of her toys were kept in a massive plastic tub, which meant the ones near the bottom never got played with. I searched around online for Peppa Pig toy boxes and that is when I found this lovely practical storage unit.
==What is it?==
The Peppa Pig 6 Bin Storage Unit, is a storage unit aimed at children for storing anything in, I personally use it for toy storage, but you can use it for storing anything you like really. The sides are made of MDF and they are painted with Peppa playing with her toys on both side panels . The drawers are canvas and to make them a little more sturdy, they have cardboard inserts, which are also covered in a canvas material. There are six drawers in total, three of them are yellow and purple, with Peppa's teddy and a football on the front of them and the other three drawers are pink and purple with George's dinosaur and some building blocks drawn on the front of them. The whole unit comes flat packed and contains 18 screws, 6 canvas drawers plus inserts, two side panels, and 9 poles(these are what the drawers sit on).
The dimensions of this unit are (H x W x D) 60 x 63.5 x 30 cm, so it would only really suit a child aged from 3 to 7. My daughter was 2 years and 4 months when she got this and it fits her size perfectly, although she couldn't see in the top drawers properly at first but coming up for 3 years old, it is the perfect size.
Building this was really easy, it comes with really easy to follow instructions. When it first came and I looked at how easy and how light the poles were, I thought it was going to be really flimsy, something I would have to keep tightening up every so often, but it has proved not to be the case, once it's built, that's it. There are 9 holes on one side panel and the poles slot into them, you screw them in and repeat the action on the other side panel, easy peasy! It only took me about 20 minutes to build it and I'm not exactly a whizz when it comes to flat pack furniture.
This is perfect for my daughters room, as soon as I built it, I set about sorting through all her toys and now she has a box for all her figures, one for her musical instruments, one for miscellaneous stuff, one for her toy cars, one for her dolls house stuff and one for her tea set and toy shopping stuff. So there is a place for everything, and the good thing about it is all her toys are easily accessible and the whole unit doesn't take up much room at all and fits almost anywhere (I have moved her room around a few times since she got this).
This unit isn't cheap, you are really paying for the Peppa Pig name, I purchased mine from amazon.co.uk for £49.99, but I do expect it to last a few years or until she grows out of Peppa Pig, whichever comes first.
I didn't expect much when it arrived in pieces, even though I did pay just under £50.00 for it, but after building it and having it in my daughters room it is really sturdy and I am more than pleased about this. My daughter knows exactly what toys go where in her boxes and when I help her tidy up and I accidentally put something in a wrong box, she is quick to tell me off for it, before telling me which box to put it in (Early signs of an OCD or just well taught where everything goes?). The unit fits very nicely with her Peppa Pig themed room, along with her curtains, bed, duvet set, bookcase and lampshade and lamp, the only downside was the price but I am sure in time I will have had my money's worth out of it. I would definitely have to give this 5/5, I cannot fault this thing at all.
Summary: Great storage unit for your childs room, decorated in Peppa Pig artwork
