Disadvantages: Incorrect prices, sloppy service, waste of time.

I arranged a consultation for sofa covers via the Plumbs website and was contacted by a Mr Eric Smith to visit me. When Eric visited he took no measurements (?) but brought fabric samples for me to chose from, he recommended the Adagio Natural as it was at a discounted price. I said I wanted piped covers with a skirt/valance. He quoted me £434 to cover my 3 seated sofa and 1 chair. This price included my 20% January discount.

I called Mr Smith about a week later to confirm the price and check how much of a deposit I needed ready for his visit on 28/02/09 (to take measurements) and he said "a 3rd" to which I calculated to be approx. £145.

On 28/02/09 Eric arrived with his samples which I advised I didn't need to see as I had already confirmed with him the Adagio Natural for £434 - he then went on to say he couldn't remember what I had picked or what he had quoted me and that he didn't know how it came to £434 but he could not honour this price and then left without apologising for wasting my time.

Plumbs was recommended to me yet i'm very disappointed with the so-called 'service' I received.

I called Plumbs on Saturday (28/02/09) to make a complaint. I was advised that complaints were taken very seriously and that my complaint would be passed to the management on Monday morning and that someone would get back to me the same day - I've heard nothing, no one has contacted me.

So today i have emailed them with the above complaint outlined once again. Their website states "You can expect a reply to your emails the same day" so I will look forward to hearing from them today...... although i won't hold my breath.
