I often struggle with what to buy my husband for Fathers Day from the children as he pretty much has everything he wants and I don't like to keep purchasing the same boring socks and chocolates each year, so when I saw this photo frame in a card shop, I decided to purchase this for him.
This frame has a matt silver front with the words 'I Love My Dad' etched into the silver at the bottom of the frame, with some hearts and other random symbols for extra decoration.
The frame has a velvet backing and you take the back of the frame off to insert the photo. The frame houses a 6x4" photo. Due to the nature of the frame, you can't adjust the size of the photo, nor can you change the orientation of the photo. You can use a horizontal 6x4" photo and that is it.
I printed off a lovely photo of my husband with the kids and put it in the frame, ready for Fathers Day and put it in a gift bag with the cards from the kids.
On Fathers Day, my husband, who was obviously expecting the usual Happy Fathers Day socks and chocolates, seemed quite taken aback with his gift and so it had the effect I wanted.
The frame now has pride of place on a display cabinet shelf and looks lovely. The frame stands up well and doesn't wobble or fall over at all and is really easy to clean due to its smooth surface.
This photo frame cost me £6.99, from a local card shop and I personally think it is really good value for money as it looks good and makes a lovely gift for Fathers.
I am really pleased I brought this frame as my husband was really pleased with his gift and it made a welcome change from the usual gifts I purchase for him and so this item comes with a thumbs up from me.
I am quite sentimental in that I love having lots of photographs around and so when I had my son I think my obsession became a little more intense because all of a sudden I really had someone who was worth showing off! For my ex husbands first fathers day I bought him a few items but one of the things I bought him was the Shudehill I love my dad photo frame.
The frame is available in two sizes but the design is the same regardless. You can purchase the frame to either hold a 6" by 4" photograph or a 5" by 3.5" photograph. I chose to purchase the slightly more expensive one which holds the larger photograph as this was more a standard sized photograph and from memory I think it cost me around five pounds from amazon. The frame is still available for a little over this but with a few pounds postage and packaging on top but you may be able to find this one in small card shops around.
The frame is made from a brushed stainless steel and has along the front of it the words I love my dad with the love being represented by a love heart. The brushed stainless steel looks nice and shiny but what is nice is there are almost glittery colours in some of the imprinted shapes around the words which really glisten especially when the light hits them through the window and so it makes a really pretty frame to be honest. The back of the frame is a black velvety material and in my opinion this adds to the look of the frame.
The frame does indeed take a standard sized 6" by 4" photograph and it stays nicely in place once inserted in the frame. I chose to add a picture of my son before we gave it to his Dad as I felt this would make it a bit more special and more appreciated. Now my ex hubby isn't really a sentimental person but he did really appreciate this frame because whilst it does bear a sweet sentiment it doesn't look girly or too lovey dovey. For a good while the frame was placed on our small table next to the sofa as it is free standing but after around a year my ex took it to his work where he placed it on his desk.
The frame did feel more expensive than the actual selling price and we had no issues with the part that holds the frame in a standing position becoming bent or broken as is often the case with cheap frames. I found it easy to clean the frame using my duster just to wipe over it when it got dusty but it never discoloured or looked tarnished in any way.
I think if you are looking for a nice gift to give your child's father or perhaps to give a new dad then this frame really is a good option because it is well priced, holds a standard sized photo and lasts well. Having asked my son if his Dad still has this one he tells me he does and it is still on his desk at work but with a more current picture of them both in so it is nice to know it is still used.
Thank you for reading my review!
'I Love My Dad' Photo Frame
A Great Gift For Dad
I am very much into my photography and much to the frustration of my husband and even my daughter who has only just turned two, I always have a camera in my hand ready to take pictures of every little moment, so I am always looking for new photo frames to put the photographs in. For Fathers Day, I wanted my daughter to give my husband a special gift and so took some lovely pictures of her and went in search of a special frame. I searched everywhere and in the end settled for the only one I could find which was in Clintons Cards for £6.00 which was a little more than I usually pay for a frame as I use so many, though I was running out of time and my daughter seemed to like the decoration on it so I brought it. Having looked online, I have found this frame on Amazon for only a little bit less at £5.49 not including postage and packaging.
The frame came in a simple white cardboard box with no decoration on it at all, except for a small label with the bar code on it. Luckily, we were wrapping the present for my husband otherwise the box alone really does not stand out.
The frame itself is not my usual choice of appearance, in a silver coloured front which always shows up any small marks or finger prints so is a nightmare to keep clean. Apparently it is lacquer coated for tarnish resistance which is great and so far I have seen no discolouration upon it. The photo space covers the top half of the horizontal frame (this frame can only stand one way) and fits a 6" x 4" photo. This is put into the back easily by pulling down the black velvet effect covering on the back and slotting it in place. You have to tape the photo in place, though, as it simply won't stay in place otherwise, though this is not a great hardship by any means, just a little annoying. Underneath the photo on the front, is some lovely decoration with the words I Love My Dad (The word love is replaced by a blue glittered heart). Surrounding these words are other decorations in the same light blue glitter consisting of smaller hearts and swirls and also a couple of silver decorations which match the colour of the frame itself.
As already mentioned, the back has a velvet effect in black which is a nice finish to the frame with a single stand to hold the frame up horizontally. This slides in easily after putting the photo in the frame with a spongy material like packing material to help protect it more. Once the back is in it is secure and does not fall out unless you pull it out.
The stand is as you usually find on frames and is not overly durable with its small hinges; one bend the wrong way and it will snap easily as my daughter has proved with other frames of mine though so far, this has escaped my daughters wrath! The rest of the frame is averagely durable though any heavy drops may easily cause it to be dented or scratched.
The cover over the front of the photo is glass so obvious hazards here.
Overall, this is a lovely little frame and my husband loved it as a present from my daughter. I would say that it has average durability when it comes to frames and the main negative really is the price of £6.00 though many people may find this average price. I would certainly recommend this frame for presents for Daddy's at Christmas, Birthdays or fathers days as it is a lovely little gift.
