Advantages: Firm, soft, both together!
Disadvantages: None!
About 15 months ago we bought our first bed together as we rented our first house. A lovely floating bedstead from Argos, complete with a £90 king size matress. Utter tat (the matress not the bed) and here we are 15 months on sleeping on a new matress.
The new matress we chose was a Silentnight Latex (the exact name of which I can't remember and is honestly unimportant as Silentnight often brand the same matress differently to different stores.) We bought a King Sized version for £250 including delivery which seemed like a bargain from The Sleep Shop in Lincoln.
The matress has a number of benefits, the first and most important of which is that it's comfortable! After sleeping on a mattress where the spring were constantly coming through and poking us in the back this feels like absolute bliss, it's quite a firm matress but has a soft topping to it, almost like laying a thin quilt on top of a firm base if that makes any sense.
Secondly is that it has easycare technology so that you don't have to continuously turn the mattress which given we have our bedroom in a low ceiling room and my wife has joint problems is a total blessing, it should also be pointed out at this stage that the underside of the matress has a latex coating that prevents it sliding across your bed which is a nice touch as our previous matress could move inches in a night and this one has yet to budge at all.
I'm sure there's other benefits to it as well but these are certainly the ones that we've found since buying and we're in love with it. We've yet to find anything we don't like!
Summary: As with all silentnight matresses, worth their weight in gold.
