“ Brand: Snooztime / Type: Pillow „
When my husband first got me convinced to go camping with him, I knew I wanted to have a few home comforts like a pillow rather than simply sleeping in my sleeping bag on my mat. Just before we had out first camping excursion my husband arrived home with one of these snooztime microbead pillow. That was a few years ago now and there appears to be quite a lot of these kind of pillows, in various shapes and sizes on the market, but this seems to be one of the original microbead pillows, which you can still pick up for around six or seven pound on the likes of ebay. Mine is plain cream/white as it is an older microbead pillow.
This oblong pillow is just shy of 20cm long, which makes it a good size to travel with. When we go camping, and even more so now with a young child, our car is full to the brim and space is of the essence, however this pillow, which is filled with microbeads, is so squidgy and squashy that it can be fitted in pretty easily into a small corner of the car. It has an outer fabric which is soft, making it ideal for lying on as a pillow when camping. The great thing about this pillow is that it is versatile. You can use it on a plane (although there are now better shaped neck pillows than this one) and my mum has borrowed mine in the past for plane trips and I find it great when I was to lie in my sleeping bag and read before I turn the light out, as it props my head up comfortably enough to be able to read without craning my neck. It would also be useful for watching tv, as the pillow moulds around your head but still gives the support you need to be comfortable.
This pillow is now several years old and I use it round the house as well, especially if I am lying on the floor helping my daughter do a puzzle and I want to prop my arm on something. My daughter also loves lying with her head on it when I'm reading her a story and loves squeezing it. In fact, she was pretty keen to use it when we were camping this summer although she had her own pillow. It is still as good as the day that I got it and I have even watched it in the machine a couple of times without any problem. All in all, this is a great accessory for camping, or a general thing to have around the house to throw in the car when you are travelling etc.
Ahh the original and still the best. The Snooztime microbead cushion has been much copied but never surpassed. I was given mine as a present a couple of years ago and it has rarely left my sofa since.
The cushion is cylindrical in shape, measuring roughly half the size of a normal pillow and comes in a range of colours, mine being black. The cover is a very stretchy type of nylon which is surprisingly durable. My stubble will usually rough up any pillow case but this cushion still looks as good as new two years on. The insides are filled with fairly loosely with tiny balls - you can read the manufacturers spiel about what these balls are made of and how they add to your comfort but to cut to the chase they allow the cushion to bend/fold/squeeze in any direction you like and be extremely comfortable. Also because the cushion is quite small it is brilliant to take with you when you go travelling. I have found it works well when you make it in a ball and shove it next to the airplane window - it's about the only time I have ever managed a decent sleep on a plane.
Keeping it clean is very easy. Any stains can be wiped off or you can put it into the washing machine. You will be pleasantly surprised to note how quickly it dries afterwards.
In conclusion this is a fantastically comfortable cushion - it's great to take travelling or just to use around the home. Prices range from £7.99 to £10 and while I thought this fairly expensive at first I have come to realise it was actually a bargain
A pillow that you won't be able to put down!
You've probably all heard of a 'Cushtie', the incredibly comfortable mini-pillow which seems to melt around your head and neck; Well, I think i've found something better... the 'Snooztime Microbead Pillow'. The design is very similar to the Cushtie, but to me, the Snooztime feels even softer.
What's it Made of?

Shaped like a cylinder, the product is filled with tiny beads which are apparently made from an 'ultra slippery micro-polystyrene powder' - but i'll take the manufacturers word for that! The end result is a pillow which you just want to keep squeezing - it feels like one of those executive stress toys.
Durability and Washability

Costing £7.99, the cover (which comes in a selection of colours) is made from a stretchy fabric which feels strong yet soft, and is probably quite difficult to tear. The product, which is around half the size of a standard pillow, can be machine watched, and is hypoallergenic. When I washed the pillow, I did it in the sink, and it came out good as new - I was also surprised with how quickly it dried considering all of the beads inside it.
In conclusion, the Snooztime Original Microbead Pillow is probably the softest thing I have ever rested my head on! For traveling, the product is fantastic, as you can pop it behind your neck on long journeys, and prevent the usually inevitable stiffness at the end of the day. I highly recommended the pillow, as it's washability, portability, and softness make it a real winner.
A cuddly pillow that is practical for home and travel.
