Although the design of my sofa bean bag is different to the one in the picture I think my review can hopefully give a good insight into sofa bean bags in general.
I bought my sofa bean bag some 2 years ago, and having paid just over £100 for it I expected it to last. I chose one covered in faux leather and it is a chocolate brown colour. at first the sofa was very comfortable, although I certainly didnt expect it to replace my conventional sofa. I think in terms of posture this product wouldnt go down very well with consumers with bad backs or anyone of a more mature age. The sofa sits quite low to the floor and therefore if you have difficulty getting up then this isnt the kind of thing you will get on with. That said, once you sit or lay down on the bean bag sofa you can soon become very comfortable and it is very easy to just fall asleep in it on an evening.
The faux leather soon started to show wear and faded in the more used areas. I am a little dissapointed with this as for the kind of money I paid I expected more life out of the sofa. The one issue with these bean bag sofas is that after a while they start to sag in areas, this is probably a combination of the wear on the covering and the movement of the stuffing. Long term, if you used one of these every day for many hours then you would soon develop a bad back I would think and so I would advise just laying down on it. The problem as I said is that after a while the sofa loses its firmness. My opinion of bean bags in general is that they are more for younger people and children and i would still say this is true. In the future I will stick to just having my conventional sofa. Although the sofa bean bag idea is still alive and kicking, I wouldnt be rushing out to buy a replacement to my now defunct purchase.
First Impressions Going to the Ideal Homes Show, we first saw these great big bean bags and, after lounging on them for about 15 mins, we decided to get one of the King size ones. They were so comfortable and a lot of fun. 'Ideal' we thought. And, for the first year or so, they were a great talking point, all our guests (especially kids) wanted to sit in it and they were certainly different. Changing View However, we soon started to notice cracks appearing in the surface of the bean bag (a sort of fake-leather compound) and contacted the manufacturer, who sent us a patch - saying that this was an unusual occurence. But it wasn't long before more cracks appeared... and more. It is now only a matter of time before the inner lining splits, even though we have patched the surface. A Word Of Warning So, in short, if you want something that is fun and throwaway, then spend £400 on these bags. However, if you're like my wife and I, and you expect that kind of money to last more than four years - then these aren't for you. It's a big shame - a fun product let down by quality control!!
The sofa bags are very adaptable pieces of furniture. They mould every time to the unique posture and shape of each person; absorbing their body weight; and helping to relieve stress and tension.
