We have been unfortunate enough to purchase a sofa from SCS. We bought it last October (06), it was delivered before Christmas as promised. It was a second sofa, for our back room, we bought it for occassional use, to watch movies. It is the Maddision sofa, in dark red leather, three seater with two of which are recliners. We do not have children or pets, we never wear shoes in our home. In August we noticed that the recliners on the sofas were wearing the leather away. Purchased a Leather sofa (£2000) from Chester branch Jul 07. Product delivered had a hole in one of the chairs and a very poor piece of leather in another. These issues were identified by me when delivered however the delivery men would not take the product back and I had to deal direct with SCS customer services. An independant upholsterer has verified the whole and poor leather to SCS head office however 8 weeks later I am still waiting for my suite to be picked up and then another one ordered which will probably take another 8 weeks. SCS sofa - Romford, first tried to sell me a sofa set which would not fit in my room according to their online planner. Then they made me drive from stevenage to romford 3 times with my bank statement. Each time they 'forgot to make a copy' Now they cancelled by delivery date as they need another copy of my bank statement. Talking to them does not help.Ordered in Sept. I have had no problems with my recent purchase from Sofa Workshop and was very pleased with the price, the service and most importantly...the sofa itself which for the price was great value. As a business, they have obviously got there act together in recent months because what I experienced was a world away from the negative reviews I had read on-line so I suggest you do not get put off by these. When we first got our own place, we had no sofa. A nice guy from our Church heard we were starting up, and offered us one. We went to collect it: an old blue feather filled style sofa in his garage, and at the time we were delighted. Sadly, our delight didn't last long. It was one of those bizarre sofas that basically is perfect until you sit on it. When you sit on it, the cushions slid away under you, and you would fall down the gap in the back. We were in no position to moan, so we put up with it. Occasionally, I would beat the cushions and thick trails of dust would fill the room.
