Advantages: Sofas have lots of advantages.

Disadvantages: Uncomfortable sofas are no fun.

'Sofas in general' is quite a strange category. I could tell you all about how a sofa is constructed. You know the sort of thing I mean. You can have a sofa made of leather, vinyl, fabric, rattan or even wicker. It can be stuffed with kapok, foam, or nothing at all. Choose from 2 seater and three seater, or get a corner unit. Opt for red, blue, green, or even neutral. The general information about sofas goes on for ever.

I could also describe to you in great detail, exactly what benefits a comfy sofa could bring to your life. You could sit on it, lay on it, sleep on it, or even use it to entertain a close friend. A sofa is essential for the last purpose.

Perhaps this isn't quite what is meant by a 'general review' of sofas.

The first thing you need to do is to decide exactly what size and shape of sofa you require. This sounds very simple but it has been known for someone to buy a sofa and wait for it to be delivered, only to discover that it won't fit in the room, or, worse still, fit through the door. Measure carefully.

Next, do a bit of research on the internet and compare prices of sofas. Make sure you include the price of delivery when you make comparisons. There are many sites to choose from including DFS, Land of leather, Argos and Tesco (among others). Make sure that you know what you want and buy the best that you can afford.

A sofa can cost as little as £180 for a two seater at Argos, to thousands of pounds for a top quality leather sofa at Land of Leather, Sofa Workshop and others.

Generally speaking if you buy a very cheap sofa for heavy wear in a lounge, or children's playroom, it won't last long. Like everything else, you get what you pay for and a cheap sofa won't stand up to a lot of bouncing around.

You might also want to think carefully about purchasing over the internet. You have no way of knowing how well the sofa you buy fits you. Each individual needs a different shaped seat to feel comfortable. A sofa with seats that are too wide, too low, too high, or even too narrow will be less than comfortable. The height of the back is also important.

I recently bought a bed settee type sofa over the internet, It looks amazing with its sleek lines and modern design but it simply doesn't fit me. It's too big. The seats are too wide and too high. I would certainly try a sofa for size before I bought another one.

Summary: Try your sofa for size before you buy it.

You're so right about sofas. I haven't bought any over the internet, but I did buy some papasan chairs and a mamasan chair once, and they weren't comfortable or finished as nicely as I would have liked.
