Advantages: You can't believe their cheek

Disadvantages: Lies to get sales, They break contract - you can't, They take money, tell lies, and don't supply the goods!!!!

ATTENTION - Anyone thinking of buying a new suite in the Chester Area.
==============================================

I must inform you of my personal experience with the guys at Chester. My wife and myself were looking to buy a suite and alredy decided on one from another store, but before making a committment we went around a few other stores on the sealand industrial estate to put our minds at rest we were buying the right one.

A very friendly salesman at SCS got talking to us and showed us an almost identical suite to the one we had chosen, at a much higher price, we politely excused the suite on the grounds we'd found a better deal elsewhere.

But he was very pushy, he went to great lengths to persuade us that the other store were selling inferior goods and almost all customers and claims against them, he kept telling us that SCS had staff from the other store who would verify his statements and that buying from the other place would be nothing but trouble.

He then dragged tha manager, and between them both they gave us a never-ending sales speel and were trying to get us to order. I told them that I wouldn't order that day but would go away and think about it .... They then went on to tell me about the sale of the centuary that would only be available untill end of that day, that if I placed an order I could always change my mind after but I had to do it to secure that price!

Eventually my wife said to me, ok, order the thing, we can always change our minds, so we gave in and ordered.

On our way back to the car we were stopped by the salesman from the other shop and he asked about the suite we were interested in, we went on to appologies for not buying but were going to pay the extra for a better quality suite from SCS and told him what had been said ... he was amazed and assured us that we had been decieved ... He assured us that their garantee was equal to if not better than SCS and he'd
back it up that what they had said was wrong.

I am a fair man and I am willing to pay extra for better quality goods, but I don't like paying extra on the grounds of a lie! When you are paying three grand for a suite you are not going to argue over a little extra for quality, but you don't want to pay for the feelgood factor of nothing more than a lie!!!!

Next morning we got up and straight away telephoned SCS to cancel the order, the manager laughed and told us we were too late, that we couldn't cancel because of small print, and if we tried he would sue us for loss of profits! We informed him that we hadn't even decided on colours, or even what combination of items we wanted, he said "tough"!

We went down to the store - guess what - the "sale of the centuary" was still on, it was not such a special deal afterall, and the salesmen were quite happy to show us the small print that they failed to show us the day before!

Indeed, I can recall the salesman who "closed the deal" didn't give me chance to read the order at all, he merely told me he'd send me some sample colour patches and then I could decide what I wanted, he filled out the order and flashed it in front of me merely showing me where to sign!

Eventually after seeking legal advice it was noted that because we can't prove that the salesman and manager told lies, and because we trusted the salesmans word and didn't actually read the order, we must abide by "the contract", so we reluctantly accpeted it and started looking forward to our new suite.

The delivery date on the order came, then passed, now after lots of letters and many weeks after we should have had delivery, they claim only now to be starting to make the thing!

As it stands .... we have no suite .... we have no clear date when we can expect it ..... we are out of pocket for a sizeable deposit .... we have been told
that they are going to hold us to the order, when they are ready to supply it then we must pay the amount up front and trust them to deliver.

I am willing to provide photocopies of letters of the above story to anyone who lives in the Chester area and was thinking of purchasing a suite. I am doing this because I would hate to think of anyone else going through the same stress and upset as my wife and myself.

As you can imagine .... not a company that I would recomend!

Please be very carefull if you must buy from SCS, make sure you get a written promise of delivery date (with written penalty clause when they break it), please please make 100% sure that the goods are what you want and above all else please ignore the sales patter that you are presented with.

If anyone else wants to know more about my experiences please feel free to email me at scs_experience@mark-morrison.co.uk

Thanks.

Mark, if you are still having problems with them let me know, I have the mobile number for the regional manager, if they have exceeded their delivery time you ca write to them making..'time of the essence' and giving them 14 days to supply the goods after which time you are entitled to a full refund.... this is the legal way around it...

Thanks for the nice comments - if I save just one person from the same fate then I'll feel much better!

Maybe I should write some praises as well, so people don't think I'm bitter and see I'm a fair guy really.

Once again, thanks everyone.
