Space Kitchens is a company that deals in kitchen design and fitting, and after years of bad press, went into liquidation around Nov 2008 and is now back and ever more pushy. We received a phone call two days ago from this company requesting to send a designer over who will have a look at our kitchen, tell us what we can do to it and give us a free quote, and as we were looking to do the kitchen up within two years anyway, we said ok. The "designer" Elisa, a nice Polish woman, came on time, and started work straight away, asking the basic questions, drawing a quick sketch, and filling out a form which would help us determine what we want in the kitchen, new designs and also some questions about who we knew, where we can put the advertising and so on to determine the discount we would get. Their "Feature Home" promotion means we could get a cheaper kitchen, and if we participate in their magazine and promotions etc. To us, these were all ok, as long we the price was good, and we would get proper quality kitchen at an affordable price... We were shown some demonstration cabinets, the features, the thickness, the soft closing etc, and were shown some other designs they've done, and it all looks quite nice, so we let her sit down and get on with the design. Meanwhile, me and my mum were discussing whether we would go ahead given the price was ok, and we decided it would be a good idea... until i looked up the company on Google, and to my horror found almost all reviews about this company being negative. After scouring pages and pages of negative comments, i picked up on the sales pitch which was alright, but what's really shocking, is the potential horror which this company could produce: gas leaks, missing kitchen units, things not fitting properly... and whats worse is the delay it takes for them to fix it if at all, the bad customer service over the phone and the possibility of having to pay extra for items to be delivered! It was all abit too overwhelming, and it wasn't a risk we can take right now, so we just decided to hear her out, before we said goodbye... BUT before she left, after quoting an initial price of £19,000 (for 2 years), and a price of £14,000 (if we signed up today) she put us onto her manager, who was rude, abrasive, and an arrogant pompous idiot, and offered us a price of £8000. Seriously, by calling me "a liar", an "idiot" and telling me i dont have the money, its just hilarious. All the checkpoints of sales tactics mentioned in reviews i read were correct. After silencing his loud yap, we ushered the kind sales/designer Eliza out of our house, and persuading her to change company... I have never heard a MANAGER speak like this! If thats how he treats his customers, what are the chances ANYONE would deal with this company? The whole process took 4 hours, and its 4 hours too long... If this company were honest, and dealt proper good products and hired proper friendly and helpful managers, perhaps we'd get somewhere. So to all of you out there, beware of this company. The sales is kind and friendly, but the managers ain't. With a knock down price from £19,000 to £8,000, how CHEAP are these products? I would highly recommend that you STAY AWAY from this company, with their poor reputation, cold calling, silent calls, harassing staff and so on. Some staff even set up a facebook group about how bad this company is! For stress relief, just stay away, and from the first call, SAY NO. How ridiculous!
