“ Brand: Thomas Lloyd / Type: Sofa „
style good every thing else goes down hill quality very poor workman ship again very poor as for after sales the woman is very rude she states they dont make furiture to perfection that answers it all
I bought a leather sofa from them but it marked incredibly easily, a problem I have never had from other companies. The reaction when you rang up for advice was incredible, Faulty Towers would be embarrassed they would rude, unhelpful and useless.AVOID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought 2 Lexington sofas from Thomas LLoyd after reading their fantastic website reviews.
Also bought their very expensive cleaning and leather protection kit. The leather marks as soon as you touch it, it was a big mistake not to send it back while I still had time. I put the leather protector on it and it changed the appearance from a soft brushed pinky colour to a slighly brown rather shiny finish.
A year later I decided to try the cleaner on one arm which was slightly grubby(and I do mean slightly) and ended up with a large dark stain were the cleaner had been.
I rang customer care, as the sofa's have a 2 year guarantee and spoke to a very brusque, quite rude woman who told me there was nothing they could do if I hadn't taken their insurance against spillage. I told her I hadn't spilled anything on it, the stain was caused by their cleaner. She told me to use the cleaner all over the sofa so it would match, the bottle contains 250 mls ?? I said I wasn't happy with their after sales and she said " nothing we can do, good morning"
I ordered a chair from Thomas Lloyd before Christmas; I bought two sofas from them a couple of years back and was pleased with the quality. I am pleased with my chair too. However the delivery arrangements are very unhelpful; you are given several days notice that the delivery will be on one of two days - one of the days was impossible for me so I asked if the delivery could be the other day. I was told without apology "you'll get what you are given" making it clear I was lucky to get the chair at all (even though it had been promised a bit sooner). There is no appeal to a higher authority and sending an email is a farce - they say they will reply within five days - it's nearly ten WEEKS later I have not had a reply, just the original automatic acknowledgement.
Their claim that the delivery charge is only a contribution is piffle; they said they had 16 drops over two days - for which they would have been paid about £700 and tens of thousands of pounds worth of goods. My company delivers all over the country and is expected to arrive at a given time and we would go bust if we couldn't do it cheaper than Thomas Lloyd claim.
In the result we had to accept the wrong day and have the chair delivered 15 miles away and have it brought over in a van! After a lot of hassle we persuaded Thomas Lloyd to get the driver to ring in advance before arriving (as their pantechnican was too big to get within 100 yards of the house which could take it in) but even then I and the man and a van I had hired to bring it to my house was hanging about for a considerable time.
They say they were very busy before Christmas; lucky them - if people knew how they could be treated they might have a very quiet Christmas next year
do not buy, i had a 4 seater delivered within 20 minutes of the driver leaving i sat in the sofa and it creaked like it was going to snap. i rang the office and told them, i asked them to contact the driver he can come back and pick it up and they could send me another one, it was obvious there was a huge problem and the middle foot did not sit on the floor. guess what ? i have to wait 3 weeks for them to collect !!!! rude people o the phone. this sofa was to replace one i had bought from them 9 years ago thomas lloyd has gone down hill since then. once they have your money they dont care about how they talk to you. getting them to return calls are a joke. rude rude rude rude !!!!
My sofa and chairs were way overdue for renewal. My last suite was bought over 10 years ago from DFS. They had removable covers and I have bought two extra sets since I first purchased the suite. The last time I bought covers was three years ago and the it cost me a whopping £800 for new ones!
They had 'gone again' so I thought I may as well buy a new suite as new covers would almost cost the same as a new one. Anyway it was really getting on my nerves - the cushions kept sliding off and there were lots of other annoying features about it.
I looked around the shops but could find nothing that I liked. I did a search on the internet and then I came across a company called sofasofa. I sent for a brochure from them. I liked the look of a leather sofa called the Lexington. It was a sofa made of leather but with fabric cushions. It looked good in the catalogue. I sent off for the samples. The fabric looked good and I liked the patterns.
I hummed and haaed though...as the nearest showroom is in Cardiff and I live near Manchester I felt it was too much of a trek to go down to Cardiff. I was reluctant to purchase the sofa without seeing it. How big would it be - would it look right in my room?
However I was finally swayed by the manufacturer's promise that they would give you 21 days to make up your mind. Iif it was not what you expected...also the price was very competitive for leather.
There was a sale on so I decided to go ahead. I liked the look of the Lexington sofa - it was leather based but had loose cushions in a darkish brown colour. (I don't particularly like totally leather suites.)
It boasted a non-tropical screwed and glued hardwood frame, heavy gauge serpentine steel seat springing , extalife fibre filled seat cushions, reversible seat and back cushions, hollow fill fibre back cushions and hand-studded front facings. The material would go really well with the rug I had in my living room.
Great I thought - this was just the sort of sofa I had been looking for. The cushions and the upholstery used won't show marks and the leather should be durable and easily cleaned and maintained. They also looked very comfortable and inviting. I felt that the sofa would provide years and years of use - yet look good and be comfortable too!
I ordered two Lexington sofas manufactured by Thomas Lloyd - a two seater and a three seater by telephone and also opted for the insurance protection for the leather and upholstery. I paid by credit card and there was a charge for this. The total cost was£1476 - not bad I thought for a 2 and 3 seater settee plus insurance.
After four weeks I was contacted with a delivery date. Unfortunately I was not at home when the sofa was delivered but my son 'saw the suite in. When I arrived home I couldn't wait to see it. I could smell the 'leather' as soon as I walked in the door.
The sofa looked good. The cushions and fabric were great. It took me a bit of time to get used to the new look in my living room. There were lots of cushions - in fact, too many. The sofa was extremely comfortable - very soft to sit on.
At first I was delighted with the sofa and, indeed, contacted them to order an additional armchair at a cost of £479 (which I have paid for but it has not yet arrived).
However, a day later I noticed several marks on the sofa...I became very anxious as nobody had misused the sofa ...just sitting on it - as you do with sofas...I began to think that I had done the wrong thing. Before I purchased the sofa I thought that leather was hard wearing and durable and that was the main reason that I had bought it...durability, easy to clean etc.. I felt that the leather was not 'up to scratch' to excuse the pun!!
In their defence, I do have to say that the sofas are well made and constructed and the range and type of sofas in their brochures and on their web site look superb quality. I guess it's just the nature of this particular type of leather... but I feel that I should have been told that it marks easily as I would not have purchased it with this knowledge.

One of the problems about buying furniture without seeing it is that you can't try it out first. Also, should you have cause to change your mind it does cost for the delivery and there is also the hassle involved about being without a sofa / armchairs etc till the matter is sorted. Furthermore, the initial delivery charge and credit card fees are non refundable.
